Max spent the early part of his adult life as an Imperial halberdier. His military career was steady but unspectacular - until he was part of a disastrous campaign deep in the Sylvania forest. Marching to put down vampire activity, an entire division of Empire troops entered the ancient woods... and simply disappeared. There were no survivors.
Or were there? Max stumbled out of the forest some months later, his uniform in tatters and his memory of events hazy. Confused and half starved, he sought employment and joined a mercenary band of Blood Bowl players – the Pandemonium Doctrine. The coaches saw his heavy build and wartime experience made him a useful asset.
But there is something very wrong with Max. Sometimes, on dark nights, his team mates swear his eyes are no longer those of a man, but are those of a serpent. Even worse, Max’s shadow sometimes changes from that of a man, to that of a mass of writhing hideous tentacles. Max seems unaware of these changes.... at least for now.
