Ehrardt Meier was the towns lookout, and was responsible for raising the alarm during the day and making sure that when necessary the whole town was awake as soon as possible. he was chosen for this thanks to his uncanny sight and is known for taking shots at any form of fowl that comes into his eyesight when on watch. He was lining up a shot with his crossbow at a waterfowl the winter when a band of marauding orcs descended from the hills on the towns borders into his sights, and he froze for a second then raised the alarm.
The orcs themselves wouldn't pose a large problem to the town as their was only around 40 orcs or so and a hundred or so goblins who are easily spooked. The problem with this attack was the giant runt who was leading the charge. He stood over 12 feet tall and although he was a runt to a normal giant this was still going cause problems for the towns defenders.
Valentin Huss and Quintus Jacob followed the lead of Ehrardt 'Eagle Eye' Meier and started to try and bringing the giant down with their bows until Gregor shouted at them to focus their fire with the rest of the towns archers at the orcs and horde of goblins.
After the enemy was close enough that the reload speed of his crossbow became a major problem, Ehrardt picked up a normal bow and scored 5 confirmed kills on the orcs and 15 on the goblins as well as plenty of unconfirmed kills while the enemy was storming the town before they were in close combat rage.
The only reason why he didn't make into the great-swords was the fact he was too slow with the great-sword itself although he had the best sight any potential great-sword has ever had, and the count was reluctant to allow the_cursed_one to buy him for his team but the towns mayor had an agreement and the count wanted Ehrardt to train his scouts.
