Motto: "Do Your Job," and "Strive for Perfection."

Field: Saint Giles Stade or SGS.

Sponsors: The Lyonesse Patriots are largely backed by War Kraft Arms Company or WKAC. The petty wars of Lyonen nobles are most often outfitted by this arms dealer. The Monastic Order of Saint Giles is not necessarily a traditional sponsor, but the local Lyonen of all social strata have taken to the practice of paying the order to provide intercessory prayers on behalf of the players to "do their job," which has led to the team voluntarily providing ad space for the monks of Saint Giles free of charge. Lyonesse Bank supports the team financially for advertisement space, it is an operation that is focused on establishing and maintaining fortifications at the outskirts of civilization to protect the Christian laity. Horizon Pigeon Post or HPP provides Bretonnia with a mailing service that utilizes passenger pigeons. Local nobility may largely squabble but can all agree that their capital support of the team is a new avenue of competition amongst them, although the cattle trade is a large amount of the lords' incomes it is a largely diffused industry, but the various noble patrons are listed in the order of donation on the side of the scoreboard with the gold value visible at the start of the season. The local fishing industry is dominated by the PĂȘcheur burgher family, and although they are the smallest sponsor monetarily their company PĂȘcheur Sea Company or PSC is also featured within the stadium.

Composition: The Lyonesse Patriots' ideal player is built first with block, guard, dodge, tackle, sure hands, and a team utility skill (kick, leader, dirty player). The team would prefer not fielding a receiver on offense, but has decided to begin rostering a One Turn Touchdown Specialist only fielded at the end of halves, and a vertical threat that will be featured only on offensive drives. The players that do not develop in the preferred standard fulfill a more mainline roll as sacking specialists that develop wrestle, tackle, strip ball, block, kick, and then dirty player; in other words they have not developed secondary skills but have a great value as Lyonesse sees things. The Patriots are one of the few teams in DLE that favor the forward pass which has seen them always rostering two quarterbacks that are specifically tailored to throwing the long ball accurately. Ideally these throwers would develop block, dodge, cannoneer, dump off, pass+, leader/agility+. Patriot Blitzers ideally develop Guard, Dodge, Defensive, Tackle, Mighty Blow, and agility+ being that it is a guard focused team that also wants to move the ball quickly. The ideal ogre as the Patriots would have it is one with block, guard, dodge, grab, tackle, and armor value+. The ideal catcher is one that has developed agility+, movement+, block, sprint, leap, and side step. However, these things are more easily said than done, but dual roles of general manager and coach of Gridironman has seen him pursue these odd angles bullishly in the trading and drafting markets; as an aberration the Patriots always intend to start a new season without any position damaging or persisting injuries.

Team Captain: Clayton Thorson, he has been the most important offensive player on the Patriots' roster and the most prototypical "throwing" passer in the league. He is not the best at anything in particular at the position but skillset wise is one of the top ten best developed throwers with that throwing focus. However, despite not being a standout athlete he is able to throw the ball at an elite level and is routinely in contention for league wide passing honors. Thorson has also been able to pull off some amazing plays that indicate some immeasurable determination. Clayton is often on defense because he provides leadership onfield and is sturdy enough to play both sides of the ball. However, ideally in the future he will only be featured on offense. We expect great things of Clayton Thorson because he strives for perfection.

Origin: The Lyonesse Patriots were an inaugural member of DLE playing from Broekwater. It has been called the most hated franchise due to the cutthroat win at all costs ethos, trade brinksmanship, and some would say bullying of the original owner. However, the current owner would be open to choosing a new nickname while staying in Lyonesse if the founder returns after all he founded the entire league and if time heals all wounds it would be a shame to exclude someone that we owe some amount of gratitude towards. That being said, the Lyonesse iteration of the team has fallen on hard times due to changing the playstyle of the franchise in an effort to adapt to the DLE playstyle. That being said, things are looking up for the Patriots, because the coach now believes that the new team compositional goals will provide a winning formula as long as Lyonesse stays the course. Currently, the franchise has hit on hard times. However, the team will be focused on seeing the franchise through these difficult waters.

Affiliation: The Lyonesse Patriots were a founding member of Draft League Europe which is an online draft league developed by the original owner of this franchise. The Patriots originally played in the ___ (forensic data for original division please). The Patriots play in the Karl Franz Conference or the KFC. They are further organized into the KFC West Division. This is a Bretonnia based team that represents an entire region or duchy of Lyonesse rather than an individual city because despite being a series of counties the province is relatively poor. However, Broekwater (south of the wastes with Marienburg being its capitol) had less than a hundred people in their population prior to the franchise being established. The capitol of Lyonesse is Lyonesse City which is an island castle town where the Patriots play.

Rivals: Currently, the Lyonesse Patriots have a rivalry with the Middenheim Classics which have been the class of the division in recent memory https://fumbbl.com/p/team?team_id=853772 . The hulking Altdorf Thunderbolts are a rival that always hits hard in close matches between the two franchises https://fumbbl.com/p/team?team_id=854089 . The speedy Bel Aliad Griffins based in Khemri dash in a style that the Patriots envy https://fumbbl.com/p/team?team_id=1085563 . The Patriots old stadium has been torn down and replaced by the well balanced Broekwater Bruisers https://fumbbl.com/p/team?team_id=1101699 . Fellow Brettonian city of Brionne are home to the Buccaneers https://fumbbl.com/p/team?team_id=986864 . Another Bretonnian based team are the high flying Eagles https://fumbbl.com/p/team?team_id=1091384 . The last Bretonnian regional rivalry involves the Mousillon Dragons https://fumbbl.com/p/team?team_id=1135405 . The oddest rivalry involves the Volksgrad White Wolves due to trade disputes https://fumbbl.com/p/team?team_id=1012229 ! Basically, we can categorize these rivalries as regional, trade, old city, and divisional. However, the divisional rivalries are preeminent and are the only true rivalries of the Lyonesse Patriots.

Friends!?: The Lyonesse Patriots have had strong trading ties with the Nuln Gunners over the years https://fumbbl.com/p/team?team_id=1017288 and it was funny because the owner of Lyonesse wanted a Steelers look and to call his team the Cannons--its basically the Nuln identity! The Averheim River Bandits provided a rubric to develop the blodge template that the Patriots admire https://fumbbl.com/p/team?team_id=986673 . Similarly, the Patriots' have high esteem for the Los Cabos Marauders quarterback academy https://fumbbl.com/p/team?team_id=868964 .

Current Legends: The Lyonesse tradition involves awarding a nickname only after they have distinguished themselves as a legend caliber player.

Russell Wilson: Real world player https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Russell_Wilson . The real world player allegedly gave himself the name "Mr. Unlimited" which is kind of an alter ego that he envisions himself as--sort of like a quarterback that can do everything. Teammates at the Seattle Seahawks in the prime of his career gave him the much cooler name "Dangeruss." Nicknames that were given to him that did not stick include "the president," due to his self respecting clean cut image, "the robot," due to how automatic game breaking plays occurred through him or "the professor," because he is very smart, especially in contrast to many prominent players or some would just say he comes from a well to do background and is not caught up in being something he is not. The Patriots have determined his nickname will be Russell "Weapon" Wilson because of his ability to do things on offense that most players cannot. He is agile, fast, a perfect ball carrier (block, sure hands, dodge) and can even dislodge the ball in a pinch. His only downside is that he is so valuable he must only play on offense. He is called weapon because he can run faster dodge out better, bounce off would be tacklers, catch the ball, pick up a ball in a scrum, dislodge the ball, and pass.

Past Legends:

Blake Bortles: Real world player https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blake_Bortles . Blake "The Boss" Bortles is still the face of the league in Nuln playing currently for the Gunners https://fumbbl.com/p/player?player_id=16071548 . His real world nickname was "Bortle Kombat," despite having a fairly lackluster career in professional football. He is fast, agile, stong, and a great asset on offense and defense. He is also the most prominent player that has a network of bounties against him that are actively trying to murder him in the (fictional--not a real threat) league.

Emmith Smith: was a real world running back, one of the best play in the NFL https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emmitt_Smith. The DLE version was not especially apt at running with the ball, but instead he is one of the most feared slayers. He would target key pieces intil they left the pitch one way or another. However, he was best at holding his ground and disengaging with relative safety when it got too heated. He was traded to the Sluggers because the Patriot management no longer beleived that they could protect such a key piece. Here is his player page https://fumbbl.com/p/player?op=view&player_id=15179562 & his current page https://fumbbl.com/p/player?player_id=16062418 .

Kendall Reyes: Kendall Reyes was one of the best centers produced by the league being able to tie down three other men. He would be able to hold fast and think quicker on his feet than his peers. He was eventually traded away to the Broekwater Bruisers. It was close to retirement but he yearned for his Broekwater playing days. Although the Bruisers are technically a rival due to the history the Patriots have with the city we could not turn down a final request that unfortunatelyled to his death. This is the real world player https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kendall_Reyes . Here is his player page https://fumbbl.com/p/player?op=view&player_id=15179551 & final page https://fumbbl.com/p/player?op=view&player_id=15516752 .

Fast Eddie is not a real world player, but a drafted Patriot legend all the same. Here is his player page. He earned the name fast Eddie because he is one of if not the fastest players to every play ball being able to score from the other side of midfield unassisted. He lived life fast and dangerous but was never daunted by the odds. https://fumbbl.com/p/player?op=view&player_id=13673685

David Johnson was one of those rare two way players that could threaten sacking the ballcarrier well within a blocking scheme or on offense as a reliable receiver. There are many players that can war dance into the pocket or score a touchdown, but rarely both. A still scarcer player with utility in both spectrums of skill rarely reaches legendary status. He left the team without any injuries. Here is his player page https://fumbbl.com/p/player?op=view&player_id=12562340 . Here is his real world player article on Wikipedia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Johnson_(running_back) .

A.J. Jenkins is the kind of player that can weave in and out of teaffic in a manner that defies logic and makes defenders look foolish. He is a great option to score quick but maybe less of a one turn threat. He left the team in full health. The real world Jenkins was considered a draft bust despite his speed and soft hands https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/A._J._Jenkins . Here is his player page https://fumbbl.com/p/player?op=view&player_id=12548912

Jason Taylor: He had two roles involving knocking opposing players out of bounds or jumping on prone opponents with an elbow. DLE rule changes have deemphasized what has been called pombing and so he is a piece of a bygone era. The idea of a pokb involves removing a player one way or another. The player would either get knocked out from the initial hit or carried off after an illegal attack of a defenseless player. Here is his player page https://fumbbl.com/p/player?op=view&player_id=12548901 . The real life Jason Taylor was an excellent linebacker and a journeyman coach working within the Miami Hurricanes coaching staff as of this writing https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jason_Taylor_(American_football) .

Douglas Winston is a pomber that can hop to his feet deftly and blitz again. He is entirely focused on the old school piling on game after the initial bone crushing blitz. The legal piledriving of today disallows an additional foul and is thereby less valuable. In other words the .odern day hooligans of today focus more on mainline fouling as the field's experts. However, they were once assisted by the likes of Winston that could get a second jab in off the blitzing joust or in a line on line block. This is the player page https://fumbbl.com/p/player?op=view&player_id=11710332 . As far as I can tell he is not a real world player.

Did You Know: That problem player Dieter "The Impaler" Kwiatkoski refused giving up his nickname upon joining the Patriots? This was seen as a violation of the team effort that Lyonesse wants to inspire.

That the infamous Blake "The Boss" Bortles was technically rostered twice? The Patriots originally rostered him, but eventually sold him in a very infamous trade deal, but then purchased him temporarily only to send him to the Gunners.

The Lyonesse Patriots have had a total of three playstyles across the tenure of coach Gridironman's ownership? He wanted to develop block spam and was largely successful. Secondly, he developed it as a block spam + agility+ roster, provisionally it planned to become a blodge team, and thirdly it attempts to be a block + guard + dodge spam team.

That the Patriots want a passer with both agility+ + pass+ + cannoneer + Block + Dodge + dump off on one of their quarterbacks? The idea involves the possibility of the passer handing off to the other and passing half a football field if necessary. It would be a fun offense to run that will keep the fans cheering. However, this does not mean that this player is necessarily the team's leader.

That the Lyonesse tradition involves awarding a nickname only after they have distinguished themselves as a legend caliber player. Players have a lion pride-like approach to the locker room based on team play inspired by the "Do Your Job," mantra. However, all Patriots' players "strive for perfection," and the players players that achieve perfection are rewarded with a nickname.

That the Lyonesse Patriots are the only team with a marching band? They are called the "Pride of Lyonesse." The Lyonesse fight song is called "Get Up" or simply referred to as "Let's Go Pats," honoring the spirit of the players that never give up.

That the cheerleaders are called the Lyonesses. They wear a similar kit as most cheerleaders in the league by wearing their affiliated team colors with the addition of cat ears. Apparently a brave hearted "cat boy" attempted to join the cheerleaders and this is what happened https://youtu.be/4S7QARslq74?si=dXypLHtlvhqguauY .

That after touchdowns the fans yell "Awww Yeah!?" This cultural statement originated from Blake "The Boss" Bortles. When asked "how does it feel to win," in a relatively inconsequential regular season match by Juju Smith-Schuster after Bortles made an unlikely scramble into the endzone. His response was an unexpectedly loud AAAW-YEE-aaah as he pantomimed strumming a guitar and finished by tea bagging an injured opponent near the goaline, it was disturbing.
