HANGING WITH THE HUNG (A FIELD GUIDE)

Rather than spouting the usual platitudes, we give you a social guide to the Hung. This may come in handy, should you find yourself invited to one of their regular parties.

The Tong are taciturn, speak Hung with an atrocious accent, and have been known to snap the hands off grown men. Engaging them in small talk is not advised. Do not shake hands. Invitations to arm wrestle should be politely declined.

The Marauders will drone on endlessly about their performance in the latest bar-room brawl (if we generously allow the inside of a yurt to be qualify as a room). Worse, they may pin you to the wall and launch into a long lament about the tribe's lost tackle (a societal disgrace, humiliation and trauma yet to be processed, let alone avenged). So be prepared with an ingenious excuse, should you find yourself trapped in the kitchen with one.

The Linemen are not only "of no lineage" (God alone knows who fathered them!), but are literally "of no name", being known simply by whatever epithet or swear word their elders and betters last called them by on the pitch. Any social niceties directed at them will immediately mark you as an inferior, and could endanger your life. Scorn, derision and hauteur are the order of the day.

The Darksouls are the life and soul of the party (a fact little known outside Hung polite society). Mister Chuckles* is renowned for his musical turns at the team's regular Tuesday evening soirees. His parodic version of the team song is rather special (Smiley will be happy to translate). Surprising as it may seem, for those seeking a friend among the Hung, Darksouls are the way to go. They are almost human, after all.
