My Grade Nine Homeroom Class
Roster [X2] Skaven

A bunch of fifteen-year-old kids, but we thought we were pretty hot stuff. Well, not all of us did. But in 1988, in a whitebread class in a whitebread school in a whitebread town, we thought Bon Jovi was dangerous, pink shirts with the collar flipped up were cool, and the Converse high-top was about as good as footwear got. Girls wore roach clips with fake foxfurs in their hair, totally unaware of the implications. Lip gloss was just a twinkle in fashion's eye. Michael Jackson was still cool (and still black), Rain Man changed the way we talked, and NOBODY listened to NWA's "Straight Outta Compton," but years later we would all claim we had.

People say these are the best years of your life, but I think the glow of nostalgia gets called into play there. There was a lot of stuff about high school, especially the early years, that I absolutely hated. I was an insecure, self-disliking (I can't go as far as loathing), moderately unpopular geek that girls hated. But now when I look back, there's a lot of stuff I miss about it regardless. The freshness of life, the feeling that the best really was ahead of you.

These are a few people from my Grade Nine homeroom class. They're also supervolved vermin dedicated to blood and Nuffle. I'm not sure if there's a metaphor in there or not.
