| <hr> <h5 align-"center">History</h5> <p>The Richmond Arms, referred to as "the pub" by its patrons (who generally can't remember the name) is a traditional pub on a main thoroughfare of Hugh's Town. Patrons gather 'round the crystal ball to watch Astrals and Sextons games and enjoy a pint or four. Try the bread pudding or the chips, but stay away from the bangers 'n mash. </p><br><hr> <h6 align-"center">Founding</h6> <p>The team was formed by a group of pub regulars to compete in the <a href='http://fumbbl.com/FUMBBL.php?page=group&op=view&group=3951'>PubBowl</a> league.</p><br> <hr> <h5 align-"center">Pubbowl</h5> In a league filled with seven man human squads, one team rose above. Richmond Arms showed talent, heart, and drive on their quest to lift the Golden Tankard. Anchored by its two doormen-turned-blitzers and shored up by its rowdy patrons, the Richmond crew developed a strong, physical running game on offense and a solid defense that never allowed more than two touchdowns and often shut out its opposition, while creating opportunities to run up the score. With hard work and just enough luck, the team became one of the premiere teams in the league. They did all this while maintaining a strict adherence to the rules, and making themselves models of good sportsmanship. <h6 align-"center">Season 1</h6> <p>The team did very well in the inaugural season, losing its first match but then winning six straight, even beating then-division leaders King Arm. Generally they were able to win by knocking their opponents about and getting lucky with the occasional pass. They miraculously made it through the entire season with only one minor injury. All seven players made each game, and their teamwork improved steadily. They ended the season on top of Division 2, with a 7/0/2 record, and were automatically promoted to Div 1. They had one of the best scores in the league, and were the highest rated team at season's end, and did it all without ever fouling.</p> <h6 align-"center">Season 2</h6> <p>Things didn't go well in the second season, as their opening-day Division 1 opponent, <a href='http://fumbbl.com/FUMBBL.php?page=team&op=view&team_id=299243'>Pig's Bladder</a> failed to show up for the match. Fellow ex-Div 2 team King Arm was also hard to schedule with, and when the match finally went off, the King Arm squad pushed Pete into the crowd, where he injured his leg permanently. They also fouled Mike, who nearly suffered the same fate. The rest of the team forgot about the game and began trying to exact revenge, even resorting to fouling, but were unable to do any lasting damage. They had to face their stiffest competition, Red Ruby, in this weakened state, and lost that game as well. Things became grimmer still for the team, as they had to deal with another forfeit, only to have Ollie and Mike both killed in the following game. Desperate for a chance to recover, the team was stunned again when their next opponent retired before their match. Staffing became a recurring issue as the team played shorthanded repeatedly and one replacement played only half a game before being injured and removed from the squad.</p> <h6 align-"center">Season 3</h6> <p>The team had its first draw to open Season 3, when, outnumbered by Bashers and Crashers Bar, they gave up the tying touchdown in the last seconds of the game. Luckily the match was injury-free, allowing the team to field a full squad for the first time in several games. In this way, the team got to start the season with a relatively clean slate. Unfortunately, the team would not maintain its numbers, and went through serious restructuring as Pat, Ian and James were lost, and Sami, Dusty, Quentin, and Sean were brought on. The team was able to play all but one of its games, however, and even managed wins against Season 2 champs McThirsty's and perennial competitior Red Ruby.</p> <h6 align-"center">Season 6</h6> <p>The team returned in Season 6, and was placed in Division 2. It was an auspicious start, as the full-strength team earned a <a href='http://fumbbl.com/FUMBBL.php?page=match&id=1869487'>2-1 victory</a> over <a href='http://fumbbl.com/FUMBBL.php?page=team&op=view&team_id=301310'>Bacchaus</a>, followed by a 2-1 victory over the daunting <a href='http://fumbbl.com/FUMBBL.php?page=team&op=view&team_id=299205'>Red Blood Bar</a>. However, they then lost 2-1 to the Jolly Jackal, and it left them short two players for their meeting with the Highbury Vaulters, which they lost 5-0. The then beat the shorthanded Lion and the Rose, as well as the Waltzing Weasels, but only managed a tie against the shorthanded Osteria del Gallo Nero</p> <h6 align-"center">Season 7</h6> <p>Season 7 saw the team return triumphantly to Division 1. The team had posted the 3rd best record in Div 2 the previous season, and squeaked into the top group, earning their second shot at the prized Golden Tankard. Of the 8 teams in Div 1, Richmond Arms was rated 3rd lowest, but appeared 3rd strongest going into the first round. This would be tested as they went up against the dangerous Jolly Jackal crew, thankfully short one of its blitzers. Of the 7 teams in the division, 6 had played Richmond Arms dating back to season 1, and had a combined 3-1-3 record against them. They beat the Jolly Jackal 1-0 thanks to some quick injuries that had them up 7-5 or 7-4 the majority of the game.
