[L] Dark Elf
| All fans of the game know of Nuffle, the fickle god of Blood Bowl. Fewer, however, know of the evil goddess Oatoa. Legend has it that her favored player, her champion on the pitch, was legendary Darkside Cowboys catcher Asperon Thorn. Thorn's career ended when Dark Elf Blood Bowl philosophy shifted and they abandoned catchers in favor of Witch Elves. Enraged by this insult to her champion, Oatoa cursed Dark Elf teams with horrendous luck. Few speak her name for fear of drawing her eye, but whenever a witch fails an easy dodge or sprint and breaks her neck or bleeds out on the turf, many mutter about the Dark Elf curse. The Wrath's coach, Adhevan, was asked in a Spike! Magazine interview about the wisdom of naming his team after such an ill omen. His reply was, "The Curse only affects the weak who rely on luck. She helps weed those players out, leaving only the strong on our team. In the end, she will make us winners and we will turn her wrath upon our opponents." The editors did note in the article, however, that for all his bravado the coach still did not hire one of those witches the goddess despises so much for his starting roster. |
