You never know what will catch the fancy of a vampire.

Not all are simply mindless killers bent on slaughter. Granted many are exactly that, but that is due to their nature. With the turning, and the dark gift, the attributes of each are enhanced. A drunkard in life will seek the intoxicating effects of blood tainted with alcohol, and as such will normally hunt amongst the bars and pubs. A miserly banker in life may become obsessed with the acquisition of wealth in his post life.

However, not all have such obvious motivations for their actions. Some are capricious. It was under this auspice that I was approached by the Vampire Lestat. He had stumbled upon an evening game I coached in the Bayou. Stunned and delighted by the savagery on display he approached me and made me an offer I cannot refuse. He would put together a team and I would find them matches. I would keep my life and a tidy profit in exchange for allowing him and a few of his fellow damned to play this delicious game.

I shudder to think what he may have meant when he said that “One day I may even have a choice he was never given."
