Some historians believe that the Wicker Man was a method used by the Celts to destroy their enemies, filling a giant effigy with people then setting it on fire.

Others believe it was Roman propaganda to stir fear and loathing of the Celts among others.

Nonetheless, the Wicker Man is a memorable idea, it spawned a tarot card, an apparently pretty poor movie (a "cult classic" 1973 or 1974), and an Iron Maiden album.

It is this morbid horror that now invades the Bloodbowl pitch.

When there's a pitch invasion, your players are stuffed into a giant effigy, hopefully for the rest of their short lives.

Animated, smaller versions run about the pitch, playing out a ghastly mockery of a game, at the whim of a demented but powerful coach.

Every game is played in the shadow of a towering animated prison, just waiting to be set alight and consume hapless sacrifices. Dying in the Wicker Man may not be the end of it, either...
