In the wastelands of former Assyria something stirred beneath the ashen surface... Vast underground galleries carved by the Blasphemous Gods themselves upon the birth of the World echo with metal on stone as armour is beaten into shape by tusked dwarves. So long have they worked the furnaces that it seems their fire is permanently reflected on their eyes, like small pools of lava. Strange marks are carved in the metal to ward off injury to the bearer. The Sixteen have been chosen and must be armoured. Denizens of the Underdark all of them, they were handpicked by the Gods to perform the task at hand - bring the Old Faith back to the Surface so that the Gods can walk again in the open air. The hooved centaurs that guard the Vast underground temples were the first to come forth, a Minotaur (a living Avatar of the bovine gods) was unleashed from the Temple of Tiamat to join the chosen. Six Master Armour-smiths joined the crew, completed by the hobgoblins that - although no more than slaves in the iron mines - were renowned for their speed and agility. And now they walk the Earth. They spread the news of the Forgotten Gods at major assemblies of public - seems only proper that they should try to take up stage in the sport that attracts by far the biggest masses in the Old World - BloodBowl. |
