The black forges of Naggarond are infamous for churning out a great multitude of implements used by the Druiichi - vicious weapons, ancient engines of destruction, suits of gleaming mail, scourges, shackles, cages... but just like everybody else, plenty of household consumer goods and more mundane tools. And when it comes to knives, "made in the black pits of Naggarond" is a mark of distinction, quenched in the blood of a hapless slave and tested under the most rigorous and most comprehensive of conditions - from long flaying sessions to simple apple-peeling. There's just one problem for the Druiichi knife-making guilds:

It's hard to export them.

The sight of the black sails of Malekith's minions are more commonly associated with piracy and pillage rather than door-to-door salesmen, and while the knife-makers are confident in the quality of their product, a venue for first-hand product demonstration that doesn't involve the prospective buyer fleeing in terror behind the safety of castle walls is difficult to find. Enter Blood Bowl - what better way to promote products than through guild sponsorship of a team participating in a sport watched and loved by many throughout the Old World?
