During a match, this team is controlled only partly by its coach. Most decisions are made by the software agent Deep Bull, a C++ program that searches through a list of moves for each player and then evaluates the position on the board. The program is developed and controlled by the team coach. On average, Deep Bull looks at 5 million positions before making a move. However, when making the first action in a player turn the program have to look at even more positions. This search takes 20 seconds or so, so please be patient. The program have several weaknesses, and needs human help when deciding which actions to consider. For simplicity, the program is designed especially for Chaos Dwarfs and their relative simple plays.The thought is, however, that Deep Bull one day will evolve into the first good Blood Bowl AI ever. For all game AI enthusiasts, Deep Bull uses a probabilistic Alpha-Beta algorithm to seach around 8 ply ahead. The program make great use of iterative deepening for the heuristics. For opponent moves, a local search (around the ball) is used. The evaluation function is a standard linear one except for some pathing when decicing ball safety. So, is this true? Or is it perhaps.... Deep Bull? Remember that Blood Bowl is a strategy game, like Chess, where some moves are good and some bad. In the long run, luck has nothing to do with it. |
