Boredom came to Team Owner Isareal Legarnd frequently sitting in the Wastes trying fruitlessly to keep his magnificent flock of hair in tip top condition. While sitting back one day watching a game of SWL on Cablevision Isareal recieved insipiration in the form of a beer thrown in his direction collecting him fair in the face. Once his hair was reconditioned Isareal got stuck in for some good old Elvish fighting "commonly seen as running screaming like a banshee from the venue with hair brush in hand and tears a flowing". Once safe outside Isareal realised that in the midst of pure violence sometimes avoidance is the best play. Slowly a plan developed, in amongst rebrushing of course, if Elfs can survive a Bar Brawl could they survive a game of Blood Bowl with other drunken maniacs....anything is possible. So first off Isareal needed a coach. A coach with integrity, a coach with tactical prowess, a coach with a heart and will to win, a coach with motivatonal skills beyond reproach and above all a coach with good personal hygiene. But beggers cant be choosers and the only coach to apply was Human Damien Watson. Damien hobbled into Isareal's office still drunk from the revellry of the night before. When questioned about his knowledge Watson just pointed to his knee, head and back. Isareal assumed Watson was referring to the need for Lightning Speed, Superior Intellect and Showing Some backbone for Willpower. Of course Watson was signed there and then and ushered out the door with a signed order to go hunting for talent. The next morning Watson arose with a shocking headache, sore knee and thrown back. Wondering why the doctor he visited last had not given him any medication (not that he would have remembered after getting paralytically drunk and being sodomised by a drunk Ogre hence the sore head, busted knee and thrown back). Once Beroccad up Watson found several pieces of paper outlining a rather large sum of money for coaching some SWL team and instructions on finding a team worth a salt for this said SWL. Over a gallon of strong coffee Watson slowly pieced together the puzzle and instead of asking why set about getting to work finding these players. First stop was of course the local tavern to make some "enquires" as to where some Elvish talent could be found. Sitting back in a corner trying to figure out where to start Watson witnessed amid yet another Brawl an Elf throw a beer bottle with a perfect spiral accross the room and into the eye of a rather annoying dwarf. Isul Belan was his name and was prompty signed as the team thrower. After talking with Belan, Watson found out a new way to recuruit the kind of Elvish players he was after. Those with agility but not afraid to get in and get dirty. Belan suggested a wonder down the road to where his Brother Elareilas acted as a bouncer for an Elvish only club. Belan got Watson in the door and as they where walking throught the crowd Watson had an idea. Pulling Belan into a corner Watson then started lobbing empty Beer bottles into the throng of Elfs. Sure enough the punches started throwing. Watching from the corner Watson witnessed some amazing acts of agility combined with strength as Elaralis Belan dodged, side stepped and blocked his way into the area where the fight started, layed a smashing tackle on a major instigator and hauled him outside. Watson had found his way of choosing players. His own version of the crush. It soon become tradition to appear at this bar for the chance that the "crush" would take place and depending on the player needed on the objectives. Blitzers had to show great balance and ability, lineman the chance to avoid falling down too frequently and catchers where usually the first out of the door. Players slowly formed a team and a strange blend of agility and strength was formed. Avoiding catchers to start with Watson decided on Blitzers and Lineman to try and survive the Qualifying Tournement to get entry in to the SWL. Tactics where a little hazy at first but the team has one theory...get the ball in the endzone and avoid the big guys. All that was needed was a name and that was simple enough. Ghostly Storm. Ghostly referring to the double vision Watson has each night after drinking and Storm is what happens to his head the next day. Defense is a little patchy but they have one "pet play" that sends fear down the spines of any opposing coach. When all else seems lost (or Watson is drunk again) expect the cry of "RANDOM" from the bench. On this signal Elaraelis will try to get to the ball carrier any way he can and attempt a block. Preferring to cause mayhem at the ball instead of protecting anything else this opens the team up for many TD's against. But dont the fans love it. With high scoring, fast paced games the norm where the Storm are involved the crowds appear in high numbers. Expect this team to wow the crowds for seasons to come, winning is a side story, as long as they look good who cares if they lose?? |
