Lector Guards of Remas

While being the foremost religious institution of the Empire, the Church of Sigmar did not hold as much sway in the city states of Tilea.

Being a general patron god of humans, there were worshippers of him in the disparate, divided mess of a geographical concept, but that very nature also meant that in the eyes of the Empire based top of the church there were only need of a single Lector representing it.

Based out of Remas, the divided city states made guiding this flock a trickier task... That and the fact that the mother church was intrinsically linked to the Empire and its politics, made the Tilean branch and its Lector, relatively politically marginalized within the greater Church.



The Lector, always vying for any method to which he can elevate himself or his Lectorship's status, within the eyes of the Mother-church or the Tilean power-players, saw the creation of the GRIND league as a venue for just that. There were church sanctioned teams back home in the Empire. Having one of his own could be a way to increase his prestige, both in Tilea and his religion.

And the bit more decentralised nature of the Sigmarites of Tilea, might be better brought to bear and noticed by all, with a Blood Bowl team to unite behind.



That he also was a giant Blood Bowl fan since his days as a Sigmar Novice in the Empire obviously might have something to do with the whole affair... And so the very moment he got the approval to sponsor and outfit a team, he personally assumed the role as a coach over the team, perhaps against the Arch-Lector's expectations!



For the team, he choose to fill it from the ranks of his very own Lector Guards. A band of faithful Sigmarites, already trusted and accustomed to follow his orders, trained and fit. Many of whom were originally from outside of Tilea and more familiar with the sports then the locals.



And with a Blood Bowl team and it's matches, with Pre and Post-match sermons getting more devoted to the topic of Blood Bowl (a topic the Lector perhaps had as much zeal for as for Sigmar), the congregation and attendance grew.

As long the Arch-Lector back in the Empire did not get to know to many details, win or lose, it looked like a bright future for the Remas Lector Guards!
