He's unyielding and refuses to give an inch of ground. He also has a fondness for squirting water from his trunk.

Kiboko refuses to share the waterhole with the other animals and is a bully to the other Pridelanders. He is not at all ashamed by this, exclaiming he's proud of it.

As a young lion cub, Simba is curious, adventurous, cocky, and all-too-ready to become king. He is known to overstep his authority and try to order around the other creatures of Pride Rock.

As a young adult, he has long since forgotten his old life, and once again, acts as over-confident and adventurous as he did as a cub.

By having the responsibilities of being a king thrust upon him so suddenly, Simba is forced to mature greatly, and in a short space of time.

"I'm only brave when I have to be."


Mufasa and Sarabi are Simba's parents. As ready to play as he is to instruct, Mufasa guides young Simba with a voice as golden as his magnificent mane. Strong, brave and wise, Mufasa is a true leader whose courage comes from a great, calm certainty about who he was and how he fitted into the great Circle of Life.

Mufasa has a temper, but was rarely angered enough to show it. Mufasa also has a great sense of humor.

Rafiki is known as the shaman of the Pride Lands, as he performs activities which are similar to those of a human tribal shaman, but he also sometimes acts quite silly. He tends to speak in third person when speaking of himself. Though he may be old and weary (he has a bad knee), he can still pack a wallop with his staff (and simian Kung Fu action) if necessary. He often pops up in a bizarre manner to teach his wisdom in a rather roundabout way, and has the ability to read omens and communicate with the Great Kings of the Past.

Scar is highly intelligent and charismatic, as he was able to rally the hyenas to his cause and gain fanatical loyalty from Zira and her pride of lionesses. Scar is a psychopathic individual who is mainly concerned with gaining power and will kill anyone he sees as competition. Despite his ruthless nature, he's a somewhat cowardly individual, more likely to run away from violence than confront it. When pressed though, he is portrayed as a fierce fighter who holds his own.

He is also cunning and manipulative.

Pumbaa is a very likable character as he's truly loyal to Simba and very protective of Timon. He loves to consume grubs, and longs for friends who won't abandon him. However, he displays childlike naivety which is sometimes confused for stupidity, but actually, he does come up with some intelligent plans and insightful ideas, which Timon rapidly claims as his own.

As a cub, Nala is a bit sassy, spunky, and just as curious, mischievous and ready to get in trouble as Simba is. She is firm about her ideas and beliefs, refusing to let Simba take full credit for her idea to get rid of Zazu.

This carries into her adulthood, where Nala has turned into a sharp-tongued and fearless adult lioness. She fights Simba into submission and isn't afraid to re-inforce to Simba that he is the rightful king no matter how much he denies it, or to tell Scar that they (the lionesses) don't believe he's the rightful king, despite being at a lower rank at the time.

She has been known to press Simba's buttons, blatantly replying, "At least one of us does," to when Simba tells her, "You're starting to sound like my father."

"What do you want me to do, dress in drag and do the hula?"


For most of the time, Timon is comical and wisecracking. However, Timon can also be selfish at times, but he shows a lot of heart as shown in the final battle for Pride Rock when he and Pumbaa go to extreme measures to distract the hyenas so Simba could confront Scar at Pride Rock.

Despite his high intel, Timon is not as smart as he thinks he is, as he takes Pumbaa's ideas as if they are his own. Though he is scared of predators and disasters happening, Timon seems to be a bit of a daredevil. This was shown to be possible multiple times.

Timon is often lazy and despises work. He won't do anything for anybody unless he gets a reward in return, there are consequences if he doesn't, or he owes somebody a favor. Timon is also shown to be a bit hypocritical at times.

As majordomo to King Mufasa, his proper, dignified, nervous, and easily-rattled personality is the polar opposite in temperament of Simba and Nala. He tends to panic during emergencies, such as the wildebeest stampede. Despite his size, he's rather snobby and looks down on lowlifes, and is not afraid to use his dry, biting wit, and is a very loyal friend and servant to the royal family. However, Zazu is not a complete stick in the mud; He does have a sense of humor.
