The Police
Two nights ago, while I was sleeping, someone entered the apartment, walked past my bedroom to the living room, found my laptop, unplugged the power cable, network cable, audio cable and an external hard-drive, and walked out with the laptop, a digital camera, a dashboard GPS and a wallet.
I had 10 years worth of documents and pictures on that drive. I was gutted.
This morning I wake up and read the local newspaper. "Discovered shoeless thief in their living room". A young couple living not far from me, discovered an Estonian bloke moving somewhat stealthily about in their living room 6am in the morning. They called the cops, and shortly afterwards the thieves got arrested.
Now I am writing this from that very same laptop.
So here's to the police and the young couple with good sleeping ears.

And yes... I will order this new table for my bedroom:

I love how we humans react. Don't do the sensible thing like buying a better door to stop the thief breaking in. No, i buy a club and shield table, problem solved!

heh, i just looked at your profile to see if u were canadian - ur blog reminded me of that michael moore documentary, comparing us-citizens with candadians and discovering that the latter left their doors unlocked :P
