to leap or not to leap?
In my most recent game, I found myself wanting the leap skill for my team of high elves, the goddesses. do all elf teams need a leaper, or Is this just a knee jerk reaction.
And if so, is it usefully on an ag 4 player, or does one wait for an ag 5?

I am starting a dark elf team In Ranked to explore the proper elf development as well as trying a positioning skill set.

I have also noted a trend that elf teams seem to play a similar game. Is that just my lack of experience? Or does ag 4 define the basics of ball handling and control?

Elves don't NEEED a leaper. but they can help when you are getting seriously outnumbered or your opponent has screened the end zone very well.

But you should be able to win without.

Just wait till you get ag5 then make that catcher or blitzer your leap player

Being an elf player my ag5 players get around just fine without leap, though at times it would help. The trick is to be open to using whoever to ball handle, as they all have ag4.

Also being a slann player, I can say that leap is awesome at times, deadly at others, and 3+ leaps work often enough to make the game entirely unpredictable.

Leap has its uses. That said if you feel you need it just get it; the times you'll use it the 3+ will be better than the other options available. Also, and most importantly, leap is fun!

Having a lineman or two with wrestle, tackle, leap would be awesome as a wildcard when prober elf tactics fail but of course skilling linemen(with no dodge even) to that level takes so much effort.

For ag5 players leap is great of course but not sure about suicide jumping them into a cage. :O

It does not have to be a lineman, with high elfs you want one of the catchers to be dodge, ag5, leap, wrestle, SB/Tackle

Double duty to get the ball, and score with it, depending on situation.

I you ever get an St4 Ag5 elf, then leap! Providing your opponent doesn't have 2 guard cage you should be able to hit caged ball carrier any turn you want.

Proper elf development in Ranked? Hahahhaa Go to to the BlackBox

Leap + Wrestle + Strip + Tackle = horrible to defend against.

The +AG just makes the leap a lot less risky.

Don't forget, with wrastle/strip, that -2D vs no sure hands will dislodge the ball ~2/3 without a reroll, ~8/9 with one. Against sure hands that comes down to just less than 1/2 or 3/4 with RR.

So even with AG4, with that skill set, you have a ~50% shot (2/3 * ~8/9) + (1/3 * 2/3 * ~2/3) to dislodge the ball. Whilst you may want to bide your time for better opportunities, it's always there as a threat. With +AG, it's nigh impossible to ignore.

However, +AG/Leap/wrestle = foul target. So don't expect them to live long!

having a ag 5 leaper is also great for those 2 turn scores when you are outnumbered heavily

Yeah, AG5 HE Catcher with Leap? Almost impossible to stop from scoring. Plus, an AG5 Leaper is a great ball retriever, he will get the ball from almost anywhere and get out with it again! Both things are much more important than cage busting imo. For that, AG5 is really wasted. I wouldn't build an AG5 Catcher into a Wrastle-Stripper if I couldhelp it. I would give him Blodge, Leap, Side Step, Sure Hands.
