Losing streak
On the cooler of my BB life. lost 7 of the last 8 games and can't seem to do anything right on the pitch. Been working hard on positioning and limiting the dice rolls.

Unfortunately this is still a game of luck and if you can't get the dice to roll your way at all you'll probably lose. I'm sure 90% of the problem is coaching ability, but I just can't quite put a finger on where it's all going wrong.

I have no idea what I could do to turn these games around. Maybe its as simple as poor team design and bloat.

Total Fail

Lots of Fail

Little bit of fail...probably just bad play

One quick observation, you played against 3 teams with strong blodgers, and between your 3 teams you have 1 tackler. Your opponents had tackle, some of them even combined with damage skills.

Get more tackle!

On the plus side:

You're a fairly new coach, yet your CR is 150+.
You realize you're losing a lot, and you say 'it feels unlucky, but I'm sure it's really the coaching'. This means you're already 3 steps ahead of most people who come here and lose a lot.

Seriously; you'll be fine in no time.

Maysrill is good coach and skaven are one of the best rosters around. Without examining the replays, I'd guess that last loss was probably coaching, which is nothing to be ashamed about.

You haven't seen my records...
I'm not that great coach, but neither a worse one.
I try to limit the dice rolls and to avoid risky moves.
But still.......
The luck factor is crucial here.
I've played against coaches who did so many risky moves with a lot of ONE dice rolls, passing moves 4/5+,dodge,etc. and you know what? THEY WON. Because their dice results were good while mine were bad.

Luck tends to even out over time.

Playing more games at higher TV could have something to do with it.

More skills on field favours the more experienced coach IMO.

just seen the first turn of the skaven vs darkelf game, i think this first ratogre blitz was wrong. You were unlucky to loose it that fast, but in anyway he would have been down very fast and this would have screwed your defense anyway.
It is good to let him act as last player, but with this blitz he would end his movement next to a player and with no support. So he would at best be bringed down if not crowdsurfed.

meh - happens

i'm on a terrible run at the moment too - even RUSSO beat me - but things will turn around, they always do.

Bad times, they come. Then they go. Some of it may be luck/distribution. Some of it may be bad habits and little changes in your play. Some of it may be a mix of opposition. Some of it may be your level of development relative to the teams you're facing or the form in which your teams can be found.

I'm no expert on Wood Elves, but I feel like you may have started with too many catchers. It's a good player, but the ST2 is a challenge in the blocking game. Also, for all your elf linemen, you might consider a healthy mix of Dodge and Block as first skills. One of your teams (I think it was the High Elf roster) had a lot of Block and not much Dodge.

Hang in there and try to keep the positive attitude you seem to have so far. At least you recognize that your problems are a combination of dice and coaching skill.

Actually, a die die roll with a blocker is safer than an elf pass for instance (1/6 chance to fail vs 2*1/6 chance to fail). Yet passing with elves is a huge part of the gameplay for man coaches.

But that's not the point. Sometimes you lose the game because of the dice - there's just nothing you can do. Most of the time however, you lose the game because the dice were bad, and you didn't think of a plan B in case that happened.

maybe because there weren't? It depends on the situation.

Anyway, with elves you can try to pass....but the teams I was talking about weren't elves.

Watching players with an average agility(or less) do that all the time is something of ..shocking..
Watching players who block one of your players with a single dice and it shows up "defender down" anytime they do that..is strange..
Watching players who blitz one of your strongest players,so he has two dice against him but dice results are in his advantage...and this ALWAYS.....is disturbing.

That's why I never...and ever...think that the luck factor isn't important in this game.

Rated 6 for the best team name that I ever seen on FUMBBL (the Woodies thrashed in "Total Fail").

Sorry about game #3 :D

My rats have been hot of late. Won 7 of 8 and the other was a 5-5 tie on a failed GFI for the 6-5 win ;)

NP maysrill Other than the 2 stupid 1dbs I felt I played pretty well. Never really had a chance in that game. I expect your team is just that much better developed than mine. The cpomb was wreaking havoc.
