Coach takes an injury - Smashed Collar Bone -ST
So I was on my evening commute home(cycling of course!), motoring along at a speed in excess of the limit & had a momentary lapse of concentration.I knew pretty much right away that It wasn't the usual scrapes and bruises & several hours later, the x-rays came back confirming what my body already knew- broken collar bone in two spots.

I'm going to apologize right now for the length of my turns, mis-clicks, & unnecessary dodges into 3 tackle zones I will do over the next month or so as I try to BB with the left hand. ;)

Get well soon from fellow cycling commuter.

And your apothecary kept their decision at collar bone? What kind of quack do you go too!?
Posted by Antithesisoftime on 2015-08-01 05:31:10
I think his other option was Killed, Lorebass

you should retire him. Its a waste of TV. Just kidding best of luck on your left-handedness. I had to learn how to clean my backside left handed when I was 21. Now I am ambidextrous.

Broken collar bone is THE cycling injury. 2 thing cause collar bone breaks; either not getting your hand down, or not keeping it down. If you get your hand down you can soften the blow. If you land on your elbow, the shock is sent straight to the collar bone. Cycling gloves and protective glasses are the 2 most important protective bits of kit you can wear (beside reflective bits at night). If you don't have a pair, I suggest investing in some. Best of luck on the recuperation. Broken bones aren't nice nor is falling off.

It's easy switching to left hand, well relatively. Sorry about your injury: at least no car involved. I commute by bike too

@Lorebass Hehe, well I do have an appointment to see about surgery. It's difficult to roll higher than a 58, though if he gave me a -MA from a broken hip I'd question his professionalism.

@harvestmouse I've broken ribs and a wrist cycling (I do a lot of cycling, so not as strange as it sounds), but first time on the collar bone. The nurses knew immediately what had happened so they've obviously seen it often. It was a pretty fast dismount and I did land right on the shoulder & hip, so no chance to get the hands down. I do the winter commute here as well, so I've got all the gear :)

@ keggiemckill Funny you should mention that - I just spent the better part of an hour trying to get my t-shirt off one handed & gave up. I was waiting for the retire option but expected Jimmyfantastic to get in there first! maybe when the AI is developed enough it can play all my matches for me.

thanks for the wishes everyone!

also, OUCH
Posted by Rbthma on 2015-08-02 07:35:16
@Kam Yep, I was pretty much sprinting without a re-roll there and I didn't need to as there wasn't anyone in range :D

@Pythrr Commuting in traffic is sometimes exactly like being a LOS scrub! great analogy :)

good news is that I've got some better drugs than just the Ibuprofen I was taking.

Using your off hand feels like someone else.. it will be like spectating :-)

Get well soon and enjoy your left-handed games as best you can. Take care Dalfort.

@Harvestmouse-Gloves & protective glasses are the MOST important? How bout a helmet, an armored jacket & kevlar armored pants? I'll give you the gloves part. You defo need them too, but I'd not wanna be you going down w/ just glasses & gloves bud! And yes I have a bike & commute during the season frequently.

Get well fellow rider! And remember, it 'could' have been much worse! Stay safe, ride aware at all times.
