From real life play to online play
I have been playing Blood Bowl for a lot of years. My best friend Peter discovered this game and introduced this to me somewhere in the late nineties. The first games we played were of course with the Orcs and the Humans. But later on he loved playing with the Dwarves, and my favorite team became the Undead. In the first years we only played single games, no League and no keeping record of SPP. Later on another friend joined us and with him some new teams were introduced, like the Lizardman.

After the Dwarves, the Skaven came. When I purchased my own set of the game (Blood Bowl Third Edition + Death Zone) I also get owner of the Wood Elves. My other friend tried the Norse. And, although we didn't live close to each other, every time we met, there were some plays of Blood Bowl. But then the times did change. My friend Peter was diagnosed with skin cancer and in 2004 he died of that decease.

Before he died we did start a League with three teams. But all teams didn't play more then 5 games each. Well it was fun to see the teams develop. So that all was before 2004. Between 2004 and 2016 I haven't played a single game, until I found this wonderful website, called Fumbbl. Finally I can play the game again. Although the online version isn't as exciting as playing real life blood bowl, here I can find coaches very easy. I hope that there will be some day that I can get the minis out of the dust, but in the meanwhile I hope that I can play a lot of fun games over here.

As a little memorial, I have recreated his 3 teams with the same team and player names, and when possible even with the same lineup.
Dark Elves: https://fumbbl.com/p/team?team_id=829410
Skaven: https://fumbbl.com/p/team?team_id=829409
Dwarves: https://fumbbl.com/p/team?team_id=830217
Still need to practice a lot with the races, because I didn't play them ever before.

To all who have made this possible, a big thanks for all the work!

Welcome aboard.

I think you'll find that most of us also played tabletop in the 90's and later found this amazing site.

I look forward to meeting you on the pitch!

Nice story! I guess there are a lot of us with similar stories (bar the deceased friend). Best of luck to you here, I hope you get on well.

For me, I was a big figure collector and TT player. Then with GW banning official pictures here and getting into making my own icons. I found that the part that online play lacked (the modelling) I managed to replace with online play. Now, I don't play TT at all.

However, yeah you should definitely get the old figures out and have a go with them. Also, one thing you'll notice is that the rules are better now. Over time they've been refined from 3rd edition.

Lastly, although one off games are not as exciting as TT. The scope with online is far bigger; what you dream of your TT league becoming. Huge leagues, big tourneys and specialist groups.

As I always say, FUMBBL is what you make it. Best of luck!

Thanks all, I feel very welcome!!

And yes, I hope that there will be someday, that there will be someone around to play a TT again.

But I also understand the majour benefit to play here at Fumbbl. Always other coaches around. Learning new tactics and just play numerous games :)

Hope to meet you at the pitch!

Welcome! I also started out with TT in the 90's. Finding this site has been a blessing....and a curse since it takes up all my free time!

welcome to this FANTASTIC site that allows we to play the game that, all in all, is probably the best GW has created.

Have fun!

Hello,

My story is similar to yours, with the difference that I switched from Skavenz to Dorfs.

Welcome to Fumbbl!

Ahoi, sir, be welcome to madness!

Amen to the welcomes and good wishes. I will say that this site has reinvigorated my love of the tabletop game. Since rediscovering that more people play, I found leagues and tourneys. Join the NAF. Follow local leagues and national and international tourneys. The fun has just begun :)
