All the league news fit to print and then some!

Compiled from across FUMBBL, this is all the news that's come to my little furry ears. If you know more that is going on, please let razmus know so he can add it to the next edition, which should be the first weekend in February. Trying to pull in as much of what's going on around FUMBBL so folks can find even more ways not to get all their real-life work done.

The census says that there are 928 distinct, active coaches on FUMBBL who play in leagues, which is down a fair bit over last period... but I expect it'll pick up a fair bit when Super League is active again. Two numbers are given for the range of the league size, because 'active coaches in a league' is a poorly defined descriptor. When the numbers are very different - the league is likely in flux, have some deadwood teams/coaches in their locker rooms, or be at the start or end of a cycle/season (when there's usually a lot of inactive coaches watching the playoffs). Numbers very close together should be pretty close to the 'actual' active coach population (whatever that means) for the group.

I wanna play now!! Which leagues should I look at? (Really, the answer is Super League* right now.)*
These are the leagues closest to looking for more coaches right now.

Timezone/Region	World, but focused on Coaches new to Bloodbowl or new to FUMBBL (but especially new to Blood Bowl!)	✹ 75-89
Rules	BB2020 (no Mega-Stars)
Current status	New Beginnings is the current season for 145 and runs until the end of January -- participating coaches are encouraged to try a roster/play style they haven't played with yet this season. 145 Box Challenge is a way of encouraging 145 players into the wider site, for the more experienced 145 players since you will play concurrent with the Blackbox Trophy.
Next steps	If you're new to FUMBBL or Blood Bowl, jump in at your leisure. Efforts are being made to make it easier for folks to join with minimal wait and to make it easier to find appropriate opponents.

Rules	BB2020 resurrection/non-progression with promotion and relegation (tournament rules: no Star Players)
Current status	Season Four will use most of the Eurobowl 2024 rules, and team submissions end on 21 January!
Next steps	When submissions end, promotion and relegation will be finalized and the first games will start around 24 January. The Super League has seen a lot of really good coaches, so the games in the upper divisions will be choice and the games in all the brackets are challenging! Rules	BB2020 with modified Secret League, and customized BB2016 skill progression. Only one team per roster. (Custom stars, with subpar apothecaries.)
Current status	Year 11, Autumn tournaments in round 4 of 7.
Next steps	Year 11, Winter 'friendlies' follow... folks have the opportunity to play a few games during the quiet period before Spring Regionals slaughter all the young'ens.
To contact	New teams either enter a Youngbloods tournament or the general mix depending on timing, and with a league this large they're almost always recruiting. If you're an established FUMBBL coach who has been considering joining CIBBL, now is still a pretty good time! Contact C0ddlefish and/or join them on the SL Discord in their own section. (But be aware, a lot goes into the administration of this league, and they'll tend to only accept coaches who have something of a proven track record of reliability on FUMBBL.)

Rules	BB2020 with "some minor tweaks". (Custom star player handling)
Current status	Season 3, with several fillers in place for folks interested in signing up. (New teams will get cash and extra skills to get them up to speed.)

Current status	It's the quiet before Season 7. The commish is back. We're just waiting to hear about the next season.

Current status	Waikikamukau X keeping everyone minty fresh as they mash each other into the pitch. Wobbly Boot still just has finals left to play.

Current status	Season 44, Round 2 of 10, with Non-AQ schedule set, and the BCS getting doled out games, and me playing near-stunties against almost all the dwarves in the league. (Apparently I should have made those jokes last year.)
Next steps	It hasn't yet been announced whether in-conference or out of conference play will start first this season, but we anticipate the season starting next week. Non-AQ will surely just play with themselves in a single round robin, and fortunately there don't appear to be any dwarves there.

Open Play Environments
Open play environments are places where teams can be built to play against other teams in the same environment, usually without scheduling the game, although many open environment also offer their own activities for teams to compete against one another if the coaches wish to participate.

Competitive
Rules	BB2020 - using the latest rules available. No Mega-stars.
Activity	Very high activity. This is the primary activity on FUMBBL
To play	Make a team from your Coaches page for the Competitive division and put them in Gamefinder, or activate teams in the Black Box (also now within gamefinder) or seek games on the FUMBBL Discord (the last is more popular with people seeking those last few games to fill a grid.) Be aware that the box random scheduler now separates virtual season one teams from everyone else.
Activities	Royal Rookie Rumble for new teams. (Recruiting 24/7!) Brawls for any Competitive team. Brackets break at 1400 and 1800. Close to getting our first High Brawl! Minors will have another tournament soon, no doubt.. but the current one (for 1330 TV cap) is up to it's finals. Major Tournaments spread out across the year, each with their own requirements and some with qualifier tournaments. If you are interested and haven't already applied, the Warpstone Open Qualifiers draw TOMORROW, 17 January.


Rules	BB2020 with custom rosters. (No Mega-stars to mirror Competitive envionment.)
Activity	Some.
To play	Make a team from the group above (or from your coaches play in the League/Secret League 2020 division) and put them in Gamefinder or seek games on the Secret League Discord
Activities	Old World Rookie Rumble for new teams. Just need three more for the next Rumble. Old World Brawl for any team. Bracket breaks at 1000, 1300, 1600, and 2000. [SL]2020 Slam are Slam type instant tournaments for groups of four teams. (just needs interested coaches) [SL]2020 Open Sprint allows teams to compete on points earned in open play, leagues, and touranments. Should be a new season running from 16 December to 31 January 2024. Other tournaments to start when Seasons enabled on FUMBBL.


Rules	BB2020, low competitive. (no Mega-Stars)
Activity	Some, fairly consistent.
To play	Create a team from the link on the Chillax group page, and make them available in gamefinder.
Activities	Ongoing sprint seasons, just so there are numbers to watch. Really there as an excuse to play games.

Open League
Rules	BB2020 (no Mega-Stars)
Activity	Low.
To play	Create a team from the link on the Open League group page, and make them available in gamefinder, or find an opponent in Discord or other places. It's okay to play casual games against friends here.

Ranked
Rules	BB2016
Activity	Low.. maybe a few fistfuls of games a month.
To play	Mostly old team.. "smoke'em if you got'em" sort of environment. It's still possible to create a new Ranked team from the create team dialog, but remember... this is the BB2016 rules, which is gonna feel alien to most of us anymore. If you still have an old Ranked team, you absolutely can still put'em in gamefinder and see if anyone else wants to play.


Rules	BB2016, with imported League, Ranked, or Box teams, including SL16 teams.
Activity	Low
To play	Clone teams into the league to bring new life to them to play. Open [L]eague Cup - No limit, Official 2016 + [SL16] teams for a possibly last ride of glory. (Watch Koadah's Blog for more information on the O[L]C cup.)

Active Metagroups
Metagroups play in other open and league environments, against other teams in the environment which aren't necessarily part of the metagroup, for thier own goals.


Season	Season 10: Jan-Apr 2024
Environment	Competitive (Blackbox Scheduler only)
Synopsis	FUMBBL's only officially supported metagroup. Build one or more squads of four teams, and amass points by winning and tying after randomly matching other teams. One team from each roster will have the opportunity to participate in the Steel Gauntlet, it's own special official [C]ompetitive Division tournament. (See Christer's blog linked above for more information.) The Steel Gauntlet competition is underway now, and is almost into round three.

Player of the Year 2024 (POTY 2024)
Season	The year of 2024
Environment	Competitive tournaments - FUMBBL Minor, Majors, and BBT
Synopsis	Earn points in the official Comptitive division competitions, and folks are offering up prizes. 145 Club has their own related prize as well!


Season	XLVI: January 1-31st
Environment	Any/All
Synopsis	Stunty teams across the FUMBBL-verse attempting to beat, kill and maim everyone else... but mostly kill. Accumulate points for building up the biggest stack of corpses, with dwarves counting double. And of course, being stunties... the bodies accumulated from fouls certainly add to the official tally. There is a relatively quiet Discord for the Throne of Blood as well.


Season	LXXXIV: January 1 - February 29th.
Environment	Competitive, Blackbox, and League (BB2020/SL2020).
Synopsis	A reboot of the original E.L.F. group, Elf teams accumulate points for playing (and more for winning) against a variety of different rosters. Additional awards for filling your dance card, and a special award for taking more casualties than anyone else. (Discord Channel.)

	Synopsis	Chaos Renegades teams as Borg collective. Start vanilla and play against other teams... and as you kill your opponent's players, you add their unique biological signature to the Borg. It was challenging under the BB2016 rules, and I suspect it's even harder now.
