First Half

RotR received first. After a rather deep kick, they tried to cage up but were put under pressure by the faster and tactically more adept humans. Both sides temporarily lost a Block player early on. Field Agent Taylor, tackled by the ogre, was able to hand over the ball to RotR's first pestigor Ember, who sought protection in the mighty beast of Nurgle's shadow. Alas, the dauntless humans were able to knock it free, albeit not to steal it completely. Ember surfed a blitzer and recovered the ball. Nonetheless, the whole Nurgle team was constantly pressed closer to the sideline. A double skull prevented the almost inevitable steal and also ate the humans' last re-roll. In the following turn, the ogre failed with a double both-down. RotR were finally able to win ground, but it was late in the half. So Angelen Hothris run towards the endzone, hoping that the beast would be able to keep the remaining defenders busy. Field Agent Taylor grabbed the ball and passed it down to his comrade. Things were looking good, but all of a sudden a lightning stroke from the dark clouds hovering balefully above the stadium, taking the former high elf holding the ball out of the game - a wizard had been hired to meddle with the outcome of the match! A spirited dodge and an almost desperate sprint later Ember brought the ball down in the humans endzone nonetheless. Close enough, but still 1-0.

Due to earlier riots, the referee extended the first half for a couple of minutes, but the humans, not being prepared, down to nine players and their thrower failing the pick-up couldn't take advantage of it.


Second Half

Humans started receiving with one player short, when the rather windy and cold weather evolved into a full-grown blizzard. The confused ogre left a hole in the Sewerjacks defense and RotR were able to capitalize by knocking down the ball carrier after a clever chain push. The ogre, still heavily irritated, knocked himself prone only seconds later while RotR was slowly closing in on the ball. Their opponents attempts to secure the ball were in vain, re-rolls gone withing the blink of an eye. The humans moral seemed to been broken after a spirited catch of the bouncing ball by Erich Müller was nullified when he failed to get away with it. Several solo efforts did not work out and the ball was already deep in their half. While multiple other Nurgle players slipped on the increasing blanket of snow, Ember was able to get hold of the ball once more, push away the last defender and run it in for a 2-0 victory. Sadly, few will have witnessed that last touchdown through the snow. Coach Arashnaur most cerainly hadn't since it has been reported he had abandoned the rather unimpressive former sewer crew and left the stadium early. Return of the Retired welcomed poor infected Gustav Meier into their ranks.

An intense game that saw a fluffy Nurgle team dice a solid yet undeveloped human team. Coaching skill couldn't help in this one. Thanks to Arashnaur for biting through this - better luck next time!”
