This starting roster is the conservative approach. 3 Re-rolls is all you'll ever need. Brawler gives you reasonably reliable Blocking and you start with 2x Dodge players in your Rogues. Stab also gives you reliable attempts at hitting the opposition. The runner has Sure Hands and between the Brawlers, Rogues and Runner you have a pretty high average Ma across the team.

Stab also gives you reliable attempts at hitting the opposition. The runner has Sure Hands and between the Brawlers, Rogues and Runner you have a pretty high average Ma across the team. You do lose 1 Brawler in this build as well as the re-roll but that allows you to start with a higher Dedicated Fans which makes accumulating money quicker, plus you start with an Ogre, which is useful for tying opposing players up and for dealing with higher strength opposing teams.
