Those were done by resizing the player portraits, and then cleaning up the edges (which pretty much had to be done pixel by pixel). |

To change the color correctly:
I use Photoshop CS, so I'm not sure if this is the same procedure for all programs but,
Click the Image bar
Select the Mode rollover, in the list of options it will have Indexed Color selected, change that to RGB color, and the colors will now edit properly. You will have to do this each time you open the image. |

Excellent, what about cows and ducks?
Jan Mattys resized portraits look nice but as I have found from experience they do not go well in the BB pitch. I found this out when I was doing an icon for Robocop. I resized a gif from a robocop computer game and it looked great but not on pitch with the rest of the team.
So I used a modified one from the clockwork mecha icon

The icons are normally GIF files, so they have an associated palette built in. It's going to vary a fair bit from one image editor to the next, but you should be able to either:
- convert to an image type that supports 32bit colour + transparency (when you save, you'll have to get the software to convert back to gif format - most programs do this well enough, just watch out for transparency).
- edit the palette for the image
Note that if you edit the palette, you can adjust all pixels of the same colour at once (they're all linked to the same palette entry).
PS: anyone with an inclination to play around with icons should look at doing some of the large icons! it takes quite a lot of effort, but you can get some really nice looking icons with the extra pixels you have to work with.
PPS: I believe you can also use png images - these support a full alpha layer, so you can have semi-transparent pixels as well! (it seems like a lot of effort though) |

Vukudlak, Nexusvalhees: As joshshott and Laviak said, you have to convert the icon pic type you are working one from indexed to RVB. The procedure for the gimp was and still is in my first post |

Excellent work how about an improved whiptail, the one I did is rubbish, I only did it as I was playing skinks and I wanted something to represent the whiptail. |
