Right well its just a start, bases on the empire wargalley.. mainly just an outline sketch.. do you need all 4 directions? or will you rotate image in client?
Ive deliberately made it smaller than 30x60 as the other boats will take up more space or least figure the greatship will be 2x the size of this approx..
..

VASSAL can handle rotation. You can even do set rotation angles if you want (ie. 45 degree turns). But maybe the contigous angling system mimics real tt gaming more. |

I did some dwarfs. Thx static for the ship template. To do something roughly shapped like a ship seems to be the hardest.

The propulsion of the nautilus shall be something like a fin. Right now it looks maybe silly. Would be nice to animate it, but I got no clue how to do this. Any hints? |

On the whole stay away from animations. They are more complicated (so take you longer) but stop animating as soon as they are rotated in the client. They are really cool but wont animate most of the time If you want to show though by all means go ahead
Static found some model dimensions online. I havent got round to processing the numbers but if you want to do it yourself for a few between now and when I wake up you get 285 pixels for every 9 inches.
I believe most of the dwarf ships are steam paddle powered though I'm not sure on the nautilus off the top of my head.
So far they are looking very promising (the bretonian ones are especially lush). One thing which I must ask is for some sort of bright colour area to be incorporated into the design of each ship. Something like the sails are fine. That way we can put several of the same model into the client with clearly identifiable colours either for squadren colours or navy colours (in the case of same race battles). People can then also decide if they prefer green, red, blue, yellow, or whatever colour sails too. |

Resized the galleon and bucc to your requirements, works out at mm size x 1.25 to get into pixels.. Largest ship on list the Great Black Ark of Naggaroth works out at 203 pixels long! but all things considers the resize should be fine for normal ships..
Oh ive not bothered recolouring these, they are just to show scale and size comparison.. |
