hi! at some stage i plan to run a European Championship

hope to have top 8 represented european countries on fumbbl ie

UK
Germany
France
Spain
Sweden
Denmark
Netherlands/Belguim/Italy (whichever i get most enthusiasm from!)

i aim to run qualifiers from each country and if i get say 4 from each country ill run a round robin qualifier or if i get say 8 ill run a qualifier tournamant akin to the fumbbl cup 3 qualifiers. the 8 winners of the groups will be added to the european championship tournament which shall be a KO tournament.

new [U] teams shall be used and it shall be a progression tournament

im just airing this idea to see if people are interested in it.

also... i plan on having the best coaches take part in it... and perhaps team names must have your countries name in it! get some patriotism going! tell your countries best coaches! show everyone else that your country is the best!

I think there's no need to run quallifyers for each country, it would take too long.

Smile yeah it would take a while but i was wanting the qualifiers to ensure the best coaches from each country go through. i dont think ill run it for a few weeks yet tho so i can plan whats going to happen... also applicants would be requested not to dropout!!!

id run the qualifiers simultaenously and put a time limiton when matches had to be played in order to keep interest and motivation high

the other way to ensure the best coaches come is to have an invite only tourney but i dont think its fair

how about making it so that any country that can gather 4 players can join. Just so people wont feel left out.

It will probably make some problems since playoff is best at 2, 4, 8, 16,... number of teams but it can be solved simply by granting some countries 2 groups, cause I know there's countries that can gather 8 coaches, Denmark for example Smile.

When it comes to playoff just arrange the coaches from the countries with 2 groups face eachother first - this way we will only have representatives from different countries after the first round. It is done by some simple team replacement.

The progress of the European Championships has been pleasing!
A couple of points:

1) If you are thinking of joining but are worried that you will be a lone member of your country then don't worry, you will be placed into a wild-card qualifier with coaches in a similar postion.
There might be more than one wild-card qualifier

2) If you find your country's quota has been filled, don't worry!! Still apply and you may get a place as a replacement for any subsequent drop-outs!

Hope you are all looking forward to the start of the tournament, which is getting a lot of interest!!
Also we are planning to have 16 qualifiers to have 4 round robin groups in the championship!

i check out the coaches before i approve them! Smile

anyway... at this stage 4 qualifiers have started and more are almost ready. if you are from a small country then apply and you will get added to the wild card qualifiers!

feel free to talk up your countries chances in this forum and describe how your groups are going! most importantly lets have some fun!

as it stands 8 coaches have applied who are from countries who have their quota of players these guys are

Spain:

Herulf
Kunnyori
Dusko

Italy:

Gary_gygax
Uberluigi
Celeloth
Ceeb

Sweden

Rimmer

If we cant get enough coaches to make up the 16 countries as it stands i plan to have 2 qualifiers from a country so is this ok with everyone??

A point about European Championship matches

If the game is tied it will go into overtime.

If it is still tied after overtime then the winner will be decided by a dice roll

As of now the groups full and begun are:

Italy
Spain
Sweden
Germany
Denmark
England

so coaches from those nations applying will be in reserve in case of drop-outs

Does the fact that I scared all other Dutch coaches off with my Twisted Evil Twisted Evil team of Dutch Criminals Twisted Evil Twisted Evil work against me?

If no further Dutch teams apply will I even get a chance to play in the EC?
