I didn't read the whole thread, but here's my words of wisdom.
1) OTT gutter runner is the best weapon in the game. Use them.
2) Rats work the double cheese angle with clawpomb stormvermin. Use them too.
3) +AG gutter runners are gold. They come in two varieties.
a) Leaping sacker (leap, wrestle, strip, horns/dauntless)
b) Retriever (leap, big hand, surehands)
4) Everything else on your team is there to support these 3-4 players. Crappy gutters get block, sidestep, diving tackle and take hits for the team until they die.
5) Everything past kick on one linerat is bloat. Not a problem, since they die like flies.
6) Rat Ogres and Leader Throwers are nice players. Unfortunately they cost money, and you won't have a lot of money. Stick to linerats and buy up to 14-15 players.
Skaven are the ultimate min/max, boom/bust team. They win big or get smashed off the pitch. Don't try to play like Azure, you'll lose. Study Reisender, because his game is easier for mortals to replicate. |

For me the interesting thing about the FC and the skaven was this. I do not even think the final 2 skaven teams that made it to the final were the top 2 skaven teams left in the FC.
Primero y Unico left the tourney based on forfeit because of their coach had real life commitments. They would have played the Plague in the final 8. Iam confident they would have beat the Offenbacher Kickers in the round of 16. So we were denied that epic skaven thrown down in the round of 8.
Legends of the Guard ran into the team of destiny of the FC the Nuffleboppers and between that divine inetervention and the dice they got imploded in the round of 8. So we were denied the round of 4 match between them and the Ruffians.
Now Iam not saying that the Legends and Primero should have been in the finals. You have to play the matches before you and roll the dice. But what Iam saying is that on paper IMO they were the two best skaven team in the main draw.
Now Iam giving the Primero the round of 16 win. So that would mean we had 4 skaven teams in the final 8. Does that mean skaven are the new hotness in majors? Probally. Does that mean we can expect skaven domination in the 2014 majors? do not think so. Does it mean skaven are a very good CRP tournament team? Yep.
They have the tools in a KO tournament to go far.
1)Natural OTS gutters coupled with AG4+
2)CPOMB access.
3)14-16 man roster
In the world of CRP they have all 3 bases covered.
1)They can perform OTS with good odds.
2)They can dish out CAS in a environment were a lot of teams run a 11-13 man roster.
3)They can absorb damage and have very good odds of not getting short manned to the point of no resistance.
Now think about it. IF we say the barometer of a good tournament team is those 3 points.
1)Can score OTS
2)Dish out CAS
3)Have a deep bench to absorb damage.
How many other rosters can do that? Because skaven can do all three very well..The last 4 skaven teams in the FC this year proved that.
Can Dwarf, orc, darkelf, chaos, nurgle, High elf, lizardmen and wood elf do all three? Do they even attempt to do all three? At the end of the day inorder for those teams to strive to cover all three of those points it requires some effort or luck on skill ups. Skaven do it naturally, it is built into the roster.
Now before we go gaga over skaven and how awesome they are in tournaments. Let me remind you of Milfords words of wisdom when it comes to majors.
There are 3 things in a major that effect every team and are completly out of the hands of the coach or team.
1)The "luck" of the tournament draw. Nothing can end a run in a major like a bad draw to start it out.
2)The "luck" of the CAS dice. Nothing can derail a deep run like a CAS box overflowing with SI and RIP. Sometimes though that lucky break happens when your next opponeet gets blown up and wins and sets you up on a juicy next match against a shortmanned and depleted team.
3)The "luck" of the upsets start effecting the field as the top dogs go down in defeat and then the path to victory lines up for you against teams that your team is ideally built to defeat.
So we have 3 events that happen in every major that are completly out of your control. |

The best(tm) way to play skaven is:
1. Take a rogre, because rogres are fun, and fun is the point of the game.
2. Avoid the temptation of making a dedicated one-turner, because scoring that way will be less fun for you than figuring out how to break through the enemy defenses the old-fashioned way.
3. Dont take clawpomb, see above.
4. Throw everyone who isnt a gunner under the bus to score at every opportunity.
If this isnt working you may want to work on your cherry picking. |

Also, the official term for One Turn Touchdown:er is Otter.
Dont put an otter on a rat team, he will be ostracized. |
