I was wondering what skill choices are recommended for snotlings?
Doubles choices seem to be straight forward Block or Dirty Player but normal skills seem to be a bit more difficult to decide on.
Also do stat increases other than +AG make sense? |

Diving Tackle on a normal roll. Natural selection should take care of the rest before his second roll.
And yeah, +AG makes sense, but mainly for TTM attempts. |

Double: Leader;
Normal: Diving Tackle or Sure Feet;
Stat increases: only +MA or +AG.
If the second skill is not a stat increase then fire the Snotling. |

Diving Tackle or Sure feet are the only normal skill they can get that makes them even somewhat worthwhile.
Diving Tackle does combine well with Side Step. It forces the enemy agile and elven teams to throws punches at the snotlings rather than dodging away, giving your Ogres more chances to hit the Elves themselves. It also prevents the enemy from dodging straight through Snotling tackle-zones. It also can sometimes prevent the enemy from running for the goal, assuming the snot survives a single blitz block.
Sure feet gives you more range and makes throw teammate actions a bit more reliable.
If you somehow get a snotling that get's two skills, fire unless he has a stat increase. It will just bloat out your teamvalue, and with Ogres you cannot afford too do anything but min-max whenever you can (and the snotling is not long for the world). |

I agree that Diving Tackle & Sure Feet are the best regular skills for the enlightened reasons my colleagues have mentioned above.
However; on one or two snots, if the 1st skill is Sure Feet, you might consider Catch for a second skill increasing the chance the hand-off works for the TTM. |

You can also consider taking a sneaky git or two if you don't have a DP yet. |

fire all your skilled snotlings.
2 rookies snots are better than 1 skilled snot... |

I'm afraid it's not that easy at low TV. Ogres are expensive, and when you start a team, your priority is to save money for:
- Replacing all the dead snots from the last game
- Hiring an apo
- Buying more rerolls
- Hiring more ogres
And that's if you're lucky and didn't have an ogre killed the game before. Hard to fire and replace all the skilled snots when you also have to buy all that. |

I would guess, it depends on the environment.
low TV play: yes
high -"- : DT, then retire unless double or +AG
but that's just a guess |

Agreed, except on double, when leader is nice value. |

Is leader better than block or DP on a double? |

I don't believe in block for snotlings.
DP (first choice imho), Leader and Kick on doubles.
Usually you should try to carry the ball with an Ogre... |

Yep, Ogre team rerolls are very expensive, Leader makes you save 40 TV, that means 2 regular skills or 2 snotlings.
Block on a ST 1 player is ridiculous, and DP would make the Snotling cost 50 TV, too much for a situational action like a foul.
A reroll, instead, is going to be useful in most of the games you play. |

let's face it, Ogre teams are utter rubbish, so it really doesn't matter what you do with snot skills rolls.
and also, as other have said, whatever you decide is but a short term issue. |

I've tried Wrestle+Dt snots too, and though it is suboptimal, it has surprised my opponents more than once. Seeing that MB+PO wight go down on triple both down was worth every bit of bloat I carried there
On a couple of occasions, it also allowed me to get st2 to the ground. People tend to forget snots can blitz too, and they have no bonehead, and are very mobile. With wrestle it can prove useful. Not saying it is that great, just fun and surprisingly relevant, considering that you have nothing of this sort available. Now cost-effective...
More seriously, I found dirty player snots quite useful, because with ogres I found there is often a player that you have no answer to (strip ball when you have no surehands for example) and that being able to trade a snot for him can be worth it.
It has the added feature that he can survive more games as he gets sent off.
I tried DP+SG, but I was a bit disapointed. If only it protected you when you get a stun...
Leader is probably the most sensible choice... but I'd rather have fun with the little guys while they last
If you're going to play ogres, might as well relax and take skills that you enjoy having on the pitch |
