Hey all,
it's been a while since I last played at FUMBBL, and I recently I've been thinking to play some games here. I run Ubuntu 13.10 and after some playtime with JAVA, got the game to start (patched to 8.9). However, once it starts and runs past the splash screen, the Setup window pops up, and it is empty. Just says "Setup window", but has no text/no buttons, nothing.
Any tips on how to deal with this problem? |

Not aware of any ubuntu spicific issues. On the top of my head I'd wonder if a firewall is blocking traffic from the issue you describe (including the anti virus program doing such tasks).
Otherwise your java or the client could be installed incorrectly.
Other than that it could be something related to Ubuntu, but don't know, haven't heard of it. |

ok i noticed that 8.9 version remark and was wondering what it is about.
Then i checked the latest version of javabowl and noticed it is actually 8.9.
Are you trying to run javabowl on fumbbl? Because that won't work.
For the record: And there was just a thread about this: Other than java (which runs on all OS) there is nothing else required to be downloaded. The client downloads as soon as you try to play a game or spectate one. |

Thanks all for your input!
I wasn't aware of these new changes - my bad, should have gone through the info more thoroughly. And so far, it seems that all works fine, at least when spectating games.
It's sure going to be nice to be back here on the pitch! |

The problem you were having is that the old client doesn't work with the most modern versions of java. As already stated, it isn't used here anymore anyway. |
