Hey everyone!
Does any one know what is happening with the LRB now that Games Workshop has dead ended all of its specialist games?
GW isnt even hosting the rules on their site anymore, even the link that was up for the Official Bloodbowl game.
Now the new game is due out in the spring with a new team roster, will the game studio making the game put the rules in the program or their site?
Is there still a living rule commission?
Thanks you for any info. |

No, Cyanide are releasing a computer game in spring with a new roster. As with their last 'added' roster it isn't official. |

I hope that what we have currently is what persists. the house rules we use now are more than fine and even then we have stunt and secret league for all newness! |

So Galak Skyscraper and Jervis have no known plans for any new rulebooks?
Does any one know if the game rights are still in GW's hands and therefore dead for them? |

No plans for a new ruleset yet. Yes still owned by GW, all their specialist games are currently being made into computer games. That is their strategy at the moment. Doubt there will be a new bloodbowl rule set for a long time |

Yeah as expected. Im glad the Specialist Games are being made into video game rather than just being dead. And this community is still very active and growing so I know Bbowl will be around for a long time. Just wondering what the Official state of GW's involvement with the game. |

* Galak Skyscraper is as welcome at Games Workshop as plastic plague.
* We are no longer on LRB, as the BBRC was disbanded. This ruleset is known and 'CRP' is to be our last rules pack for a good while.
* BB will forever be owned by GW, unless GW went down the plug hole.
* BB is on hold until they find a way to utilise it. This means putting in hours and money, which at the moment isn't part of their plans.
* TT wargames has reached a dangerous point. For me, I've totally lost interest. I got into TT at 9 years old, 28 years ago. However the last 3 or 4 years, I have absolutely no interest. The major attraction I guess was creating your own army and playing against a real opponent. I can do that online. I can create BB teams when I want, with far less effort than painting.
I have a huge mountain of lead. I'll certainly keep my citadel CDs, and my 20mm ancients. Maybe my BB, but apart from that, I'm eventually going to sell it all off. Thousands and thousands of figures! |

I always thought that Jervis and Galak were friends and the CRP was a free way to get out the BB rules that GW had been working on.
Which at the time is the only thing Jarvis and GW could do for BB?
Obviously they don't care enough about it because it doesn't make money like 40k was at the time.
Now the specialist game all went to video games as it seem like GW struggle to stay relevant and profitable. |

They maybe friends, probably are. However Galak's a businessman and his business isn't in GWs best interests. Rightly or wrongly he was removed part way through LRB 6.
GW haven't worked on BB rules for years. The BBRC started out with major contributions from GW staff, however over time they disappeared into more lucrative avenues. The BBRC for a long time have been made up by members of the community, then edited or approved by JJ and GW.
GW are in a delicate situation. The world... 'their world' is changing massively. 40k isn't making money either, TT isn't making money. They are in a position where they must re-invent themselves. Unfortunately this is happening again and again in recent times.
For a computer games company, this isn't so difficult. You can reinvent yourselves or keep up with the times with your next game. For a company like GW this isn't so easy. Warhammer has been around since 85, and BB and 40k since 87. That's nearly 30 years with gaming based around the same concept.
However gaming has changed massively. Online gaming, buying markets and resources have changed things dramatically. And it's constantly changing. It's massively difficult for a company like GW to keep up with this and computer gaming has been their most reliable resource for a while. In all honesty I don't see why they don't go for it hook, line and sinker.
How many gamers would be interested in playing a FUMBBL type version of Warhammer? I'd jump at the chance. |

The CRP rules (Icepelt version including images and some background) document is still up on the top of the forum page of the Cyanide Bloodbowl site. |

Regarding wargames: Time for a new Dark Omen?
BB: i sometimes wish that someone from the bbrc announces an errata for crp with good rules changes.
It wouldn't be too much work for them. It can't be totally dead for them, just not profitable for gw |

That is just bizarre. How is it that Cyanide gets to out do the NAF?
Or do GW just not keep track of what they are up to over there?
Anyone can announce whatever rule changes they like. If they wish they can even go through the thankless task of developing a whole new rule set.
But I suppose if it is not 'official' you won't get enough people playing it to be worth your while.
I really don't understand why people are so attached to the 'official' rules.
Sure, for TT tournaments you need something standard. Hence the name CRP.
But for anything else? Pfft. |

As silly as it sounds, having an inscrutable arbitrary ruleset in place probably is for the best because some of the pet ideas people have are bananas. |
