[Please move, is this is not the right forum]
Hi all,
are you having trouble finding the time to play a game of BB in one sitting?
Kids? Job? Spouse? Whatnot?
Then maybe play by email is the solution? - as a supplement to your playing on FUMBBL, not a replacement, naturally
The NTBBL kicking off a new season on saturday (the first of august).
It's a 5 month season. 1 game per month (per team).
We're using CRP+ and NTRosters.
Send me an email (plasmoid at Hotmail dot com) if you're interested.
Cheers

How does it work?
The pbem program lets you play your turn and save it. You then email it to your opponent who watches your turn, plays his own, saves and emails. Lather, rinse, repeat
If you haven't already then pop me an email - I'll be happy to elaborate.
Cheers

It is the right forum... As long as you don't steal too many coaches from us!
How long does a game usually take? |

How does pbem handle things like sidestep or stand firm?
Or interceptions, usage of dodge, apo use, blitz! etc? |

Never bothered doing that, personally! The tool is quite clever in that it stops reloads. Enjoyed quite a few seasons with it. |

I'm currently playing two matches and I like to rewind and see what the opponent did.
The client is quite different to kalimars in that it is more like TT play. Nothing happens automatically and you really have to know the rules.
At least it has made me aware of how convenient kalimars client is
however, the plus with PBeM is that you don't tie up 90 minutes for a game, you just do your turn in 5-10 minutes and send the file back; wait for the reply and continue. |

Don't suppose there's a CRP version with normal teams running as well? I'd be interested but really not fussed by the house-rules.
Also: is the client still Windows-only? Or did I dream that? |

Hi Guys
@Roland: It's a fairly diverse League. However, teams are sorted into groups of 6 based on team value. Looks like there could be 2 low/rookie groups. On those groups so far we have Undead, Orc, Human, Dwarf, Skaven, Ogre, Vampire.
@Woodstock: 16 turns
Depends on how fast you and your opponent want to go.
But in the League mentioned, it's 1 game (per team) per month. That fits with roughly 20 emails at 1 turn per day on weekdays.
@Tmoila:
Skills are automated. But we leave it to the opponent to consider whether it is favourable to not use a skill. Most people can figure out to not use Dodge if you're on the way to getting surfed. When in (serious) doubt - send the extra email.
Interception rolls are automated.
Blitz! is an extra turn/email.
Apo is used at the start of your next turn.
Sidestep is tricky/weaker - you can preprogram or let the Tool decide. Or ask for an extra email if it is absoluetly crucial.
@Jamesfarrell - see link from Roland. But you might just enjoy the house rules. At low TV the house rules er negible. And the roster tweaks are not hard to keep track of within your 6-team-group.
Client is Windows only. Delphi i believe. I'm told a Mac can run it using wine.
Thanks all for asking
Cheers

Thinking about a turn a day I feel like the experience would be closer to playing a strategic war game with daily reports from the front. |

In my experience it is played quite differently by different coaches.
I know people who open the gamefile and finish the turn in 2 minutes.
And I know others who review the turn in the morning, ponder it over the day and play in the evening (only to have their great plans foiled by Nuffle )
I do think that having lots of time to ponder your turn does allow you to learn quite a bit - even if it doesn't teach you to play fast. (You have FUMBBL for that )
Cheers

Thinking quickly is harder than thinking slowly, so having days to figure a move removes one of the things which differentiates a good coach from an average one. |

What happens if you're not a good coach? |
