Thanks Luo for your years of dedication to a great league and good luck Tomay for doing the same. |

I know I've brought this up before to not much interest, but there's a confluence of factors which might make it worthwhile using a more optimal algorithm for the draft. Those being:
- Everyone's redrafting.
- The draft order is entirely random (which simplifies the algorithm compared to people having priority).
- It's using RPS so it's more unstable.
Happy to provide source code and simulations if there's any interest, might do so even if there isn't just for fun. It's not much work.
As a motivating example, imagine you're enforcing an as-you-go difference between R, P, and S of no greater than one and the following are submited:
RPS (i.e. a draft order of rock teams, then paper teams, then scissor teams)
RPS
RPS
PSR
PSR
PSR
SRP
SRP
SRP
Everyone could get what they want, but if they're processed in that order people will end up with an equal mix of first, second and third choice. Maybe you're allowing more than 1 difference, and obviously it's a contrived example, but hopefully it illustrates the potential advantage. |

I have everything ready to go, Irgy, a spreadsheet to kick out the answers for me.
We've got a simple solution to start with, there will be a cap for each race depending on the number of draftees, and a cap for each RPS group depending on the same. For instance, with 43 draftees, we'd have maximum 3 per race, and maximum 15 in each RPS group.
A host of Dynamite teams may leave us a little unbalanced, but 2nd draft for latecomers and insufficient lists will sort some of that, with redrafts and new entrants for S72 and onward topping things up as usual.
If you're worried your list might be too short, drop some more teams on it, and then just keep dropping them on until you've got all of them. |

Ok, well that approach sounds much more stable than the sort of thing I'd speculated. The dynamite thing like you say isn't a big deal because there's still no more than 1/3 of any one team type no matter how many dynamites there are. Not that worried for myself personally, I expect my high choices to be unpopular anyway. |

I shall be pondering my options.

Good thing you gave me the heads up Balle.

Just a quick heads' up, pipples, that frog's legs are off the menu (just ask Poods).
So forget about them being next season's black as there is no point nominating Slann - they're already taken. |

Sirius question: When all this begins again, will it be possible to retain our current team names? |

I may have jumped the gun and submitted early, can we change our list order or will we be penalised? |

If you're leaping on to the Slann band wagon, penalties should apply.
Anything else is fine.
(I have no authority whatsoever to make that call.) |
