To me, Welfs, even down on numbers will always have a good chance of breaking a cage. The art of caging them out is to stop the ball being able to be moved away, whilst systematically removing players. Moving a cage isn't just about moving it forward, but removing the opposition who can break it or slow it down. Even accounting for the lucky rolls, the human coach did a very good job of this.
On the second point, after the loss of the tree - perhaps attacking the ball may not have been the best strategy. Allowing the cage to move quickly downfield, letting the opposition score whilst protecting his key players, then going for the chainpush one turner may have at least kept the Welf team in a state more easily able to be rebuilt from.
Appologies if I didn't explain it as I had originally though. |

One spectator of the 1st victory of my Faction halflings against a chaos dwarf team told me "Best match ever!" Well, it's my alltime favourite Daisycutters vs Hoitie Toities |

http://fumbbl.com/FUMBBL.php?page=match&op=view&id=753281 Add it to the wiki for me, Shep!
This is an example of how early luck in CAS can be exploited to guarantee out-numbering, and retiring of your opponents team. Also how fouls aren't needed and how cool flings are. |

My opponent in this one played the hell out of the Skaven, and would probably have throttled my Khemri except that his first turn pass went errant and somehow stuck to one of my mummies. My guess is it's due to the fact that the ball got cradled in the soft folds of the extra-fluffy Charmin I wrapped the mummies in before the game: CAS 0-1 in favor of the Skaven, despite 9 KOs caused by the Khemri. Despite my team having complete numerical advantage in the 2nd half, the outcome was in doubt until the final turn, as the Skaven harassed the ball carrier every lumbering step of the way downfield.

Yes, we all know that it is important to always attack the tree with as many players as it takes. |

I'll add a few from a couple of the glorious rivalries I had in SWL with my long choking Human team - I-House.
The first two are games against I-House's nemesis, the dwarfs of the Southside Stone Smashers. I played this team a few times, and though I'd fight hard, I just could never get that little bit of luck I'd need to win the game. These two games are both losess, where IIRC, I fought hard to pry the ball lose from the Dwarfs, but could never get that result on the block dice I needed when I did get crack at the ballcarrier. Sandune is a very good Dwarf player, and doesn't give out many opportunities. I did eventually get a win up against those Dwarfs, but IMO that game saw a lot more luck go my way, so it wasn't as good tactically speaking.

The other game is one against my other rivals from these times, ozjestings Chaos team, the Black Crowes. The Crowes are still running around in SWL undergoing revamp and rebuild number 4 I believe. ozjesting and myself always have interesting games, with plenty of nice plays, and this game is no exception.

Check out my undead team. I have some monumental victories against chaos and orcs and some crappy losses too. Generally I have a winning record, so if you want an average undead to follow check out a few of my games. I'm particulary fond of my games against deathgerbil, more for the game than for the result. |

This was an absolutely soul destroying loss on my end. Game from the Premier league in SWL. Despite being utterly rogered, I thought I played one of the best games I've ever played tactically speaking, but Nuffle was having none of it. OldBugman doesn't give many opportunities away, and I did my best to seize those that presented themselves.
