thanks evryone, as always my luck really shines in the big official tournaments, not even any permanent injuries to take into the next round. Was a little worried since even though i didn't pick up any bad injuries i couldnt field more than was it 8 or 9 guys to start the second half.. didn't think I'd be able to pull it off but i guess that goes to show that nothing is impossible in bloodbowl.

Just noticed that the win raised my CR by 7.. whoa.. must have been pretty much the biggest jump ever.

At Gatts: If I remember correctly, I gained 8.5 or something like that when my beaten down elves scored a tight 2-1 victory over JackDaniels Orcs in the Ulthuan Invitational.

To make things more even nuffle decided to kick out some Darkies, while proving the point that you can win against 11 elves on the field.

One of the most important scenes were right at turn one, when Quaruk had to blow a reroll on a double-bothdown in order to clear the lane to run his recievers. That left his thrower without a reroll, when he missed his pickup on the opposite side of the pitch. This was rapidly exploited by the fast humans scoring the 1-0.

2nd drive saw the DE opening strong with a BH on a lino and a good screen on their ST4-ballcarrier. That was answered by a BH on their blitzer by the raging Shortsightness. The ballcarrier was swarmed by 3 humans and the DP dodges out to foul a downed witch, which resulted in a stun only. But their starblitzer showed no weakness and managed all 3 dodges without reroll (DE had spent all because of Doom&Gloom) despite being shadowed 2 times by a human blitzer and scored for the 1-1 (1-1 in cas).

3rd drive the humans tried rushed in for a fast TD, managed to bring a couple of catchers into position. But their coach changed his mind and so they had to form a weak cage with 2 catchers and 2 blitzers around the intended reciever who caught the pass from the human thrower "Unbalance is the Equilibrium" who again showed an outstanding performance. The DE blitzed into the cage, knocking down a catcher and puttin alot of pressure on the cage and a tackle/DT-witch next to the ball. Again nuffle smiled on the humans, allowing the ballcarrying catcher "Freedom is a Restraint" to knock down the diving tackle witch to score his 2nd TD unimpeded.

4th drive was only a short one with only 1 turn for each team to play, but a blitz gave the humans another chance. Unfortunatelly, the defenders were able to retrieve the ball and run away with it into the backfield, while putting the human star catcher "Dullness is Attractiveness" - who was playing a weak match today - into the BH-Box, leaving the humans hurt and frustrated at the missed chance. A DE-blitzer hit the crowd - but as it was the elven fanblock he got only stunned - and the fans watched the death of "Ykoneda Gashcinder". A mighty blow from "Lovingness is Cruelty" snapped his laryinx and both team watched him suffocate in agony, while the Quaruk decided to hold back the apo who wanted to rush in.

Halftime: Humans 2 (1/0/1) - Dark Elfs 1 (2/0/0)

5th drive and humans recieving while having the lead. This time the coach decided to focuss more on the bashing power of the humans. The blitz sent the DT-witch into the KO box and another foul from the DP knocked out the ST4-thrower. Recievers were in place, the thrower deep in the backfield - everything was OK, was it? The elves answered viciously. "Amiey Battleseeker" who played a very strong game made her 2nd cas of the game sending another human catcher into the BH-box, while the other catcher was knocked out. This left the humans very thin on the recievers, who were so much needed. The quaterback decided to take the human lino in scoring range as reciever, made the accurate pass, but the lino used up a RR to catch. Without reroll to make the 2 GFI and 2 elven blodger in place for a fast counter CircularLogic decided against scoring. The 2 remaining players ran out to form a screen, but the coach commanded them back in the last second leaving the ball in a very bad cage. The elves smelled the turnover and blitzed down the ball using up a RR. Nevertheless their AG5-blitzer made all the rolls needed to dogde away from his cover, dodge in to grad the ball, leap out and made the pass to the waiting blodge-sidestep-blitzer. He didn´t realized, that the human-thrower was training in blocking those situations, so in anticipation of the pass he had move in for the interception and the needed '4' was rolled. The direct counter of the humans was a pass to a free blitzer, where the crowd saw another near-interception, when only the safe throw of the human star quaterback prevented worse. So it was humans 3 - DE 1.

6th drive saw the elves set up for another classic 2-turner, when the AG5-blitzer got tackled by the only remaining human catcher and fell, leaving the ball free in the open. A huge scrum evolved around the ball and finally the elves managed to regain possesion and score in turn 6.

7th drive: The humans kept the ball deep, this time with a blitzer as an escort, ready to play down the clock, when the elves made an all-out attempt to rush the thrower. Routinely that was exploited by the human team with a longpass to "Treason must be purged", the human lino who got the glory to score the 4-2 TD.

8th drive gave the humans another blitz, which wasn´t really used and the elves focussed to much on making a comp, that they threw to the wrong reciever, who should make the blitz for the 1-turn-attempt.

All in all a great game, near to the end, we had spec #50 join. Thx for the game Quaruk and good luck with the team.

Well, for all the bashy flavor the initial contestants contained, this looks to be a very elven ending, with 5 elves, a human and a cd team in the final 8, only the darkie/orc match left to play in the 2nd round.

Knowing how to bash is not important for winning. Most orcs looked like they knew how to bash.

Too bad, that alot of coaches think bashing is the objective in this game.

thx for reminding me .... Wink what a humiliation to lose that one. it should have been a easy win for me also i played basher vs elves. its no problem to win vs elves with a basher team if you secure not to lose the ball. it´s more important than to tackle the elves as they will dodge away anyway most likely. 1 blitz, maybe some blocks and some good fouls are enough to get a quite easy win.

i havn´t seen all matches and although there are not many bashers left i still believe the cd have very good chances to win this if they play concentrated.

well, there Darkie's Dreams leave the cup.

It was a tough game with blood and mayhem anywhere, and I might hint that the first 4 armour and injuries rolls of pmg decided the game (1 KO, 1 BH, 1 SI, 1 RIP)

Still well played, pmg.

Somohow I will get those two games remaing to 300 somewhere Very Happy

Quite odd logic, Circular.Wink

As JanMattys pointed very wisely: when developed elves refuse to break (actually: refuse to hit the dirt at all Smile) early then it's very tough to beat them with bashers.

Add in that the power of wizard is a dreadful weapon in the hands of a capable elven team (much more deadly than in a bashing team). They start, they score, they receive, wizard casts, it's 2-0 and the bashers are toasted.

You can win with bashers. So with agile teams. It's mostly about the dice. If elves fail their dodges and passes or leave the pitch with an injury with every 2nd block then they could be easily beaten too. Even if they know the objective of the game.

When bashers are geared towards scoring, they can come back from a 0-2. Unfortunatelly most teams are so much focussed on the 2-1 grind..

Oh.. and my humans showed, that you can win against elves without outnumbering them - even when those freaking elves have more ST than you.

Sorry, but my 8 turn foul did as much damage as my other fouls... cept the first that killed a catcher

The game wasn`t too bad, but way less blood than expected. Falcons won 2-1, while the orcs 4 fouls with DP failed to cause worse than KO. Only turn 5 2nd half made the exception, as the orcs caused 2 cas in one turn. Only the failing apo prohibited the elves from leaving the pitch completly unharmed.

The next game vs the falcons will be either tomorrow, Saturday the 3rd of December, 17:30 bb-time or the next week at the same time.

You don't stand a chance.

Anyway, I will cheer for the humans, even if I like Malthor as a coach.

Humans winning the Cup would just be awesome.
