I don't know if that's feasible, but if the gamefinder was kinda like a java applet that refreshes itself automatically, it might just become good enough to completely ditch the bblfg. I usually peak at the list whenever I start looking for a game, but there's not always something interesting so I'll post my teams and bblfg them in the chan until someone proposes me something.
I'm just not too keen on constantly refreshing the gamefinder hoping an interesting team will popup, especially since not many people seem to be using it regularly. Make it a live thing and I'm sure more and more people would use it. That's still more work for Christer, but I don't think it'd be very complicated and it might be worth it. |

My choice, keep both and use both.
Gamefinder to post your teams and irc to make/respond to challenges. |

So not possible then? If there was a link then I could use it!!
Surely I'm not the only person who uses this theme?
EDIT: lol - just noticed gamefinder on the main fumbbl screen. but before you enter your username/password. After you've logged in it disappears!! |

Currently with both options open you're selling your team short by not bb lfging...
If it were removed you'd have this nice list matching teams up by TR instead of skimming through lines of lfgs, what skill should I take, fish slapping showdowns and other random chat messages.
Leave the chat channel for trout whackers I say.
Force the lazy buggers to go to GameFinder so it is all in the one spot with URLs ready to be clicked. |

I only use the gamesfinder page too...
Being a relative newbie i am not immersed in the iRC culture of Fumbbl. I still use the chat to challenge my opponents or for them to challenge me though.
IRC is very usefull for that. |

Make everyone use the gamefinder. This reduces spam in the channel. If everyone just had to use the gamefinder suddenly there would be initial confusion, then iot would be great. But yeah, if the gamefinder automatically refreshed it would be even better. |

I say ditch the gamefinder instead then. If you want to reduce spam you could have BowlBot not spam match results and force people to /msg BowlBot to do the lfg. |

Was that to me? If so, then it works fine that way. If you do '/msg BowlBot lfg -r' it will still show you ranked teams in the channel. But everyone else won't see you write 'bblfg -r' effectively cutting away a line every time someone wants to play. |

If you reduce lfg in IRC then what will everyone talk about?
I use both. |

what about a link in the gamefinder page to open a chat with the aimed coache ?
i like this gamefinder stuff, it let you know which teams are lfg.
With bblfg you never knows which ones are still availavable and every lfg on the upper page is considered as filled even if it's not... |

The fact that Gamefinder still relies on IRC to arrange the fixture holds it back a bit. What I have in mind is a 'Challenge' link next to teams on the list, which automatically informs the other coach (perhaps furnishing him with a link to the challenging team and coach so he can give them a quick once-over), and he can then either accept or decline with a click, which in turn would run Game Launcher.
Of course, leave the IRC method open for those that prefer it.
There is a danger of making FUMBBL very impersonal this way, but coaches should be encouraged to blather away in-game |
