I do not doubt the averages of dice rolls over large amounts of rolls.
But I am sure I fail more rolls when it matters.
If I need a 2+ I don't care for a 6. It is a success. The rest Is bollogs.
And these 6'es boost my average while I fail the 3+ with re roll costing me a td. |

So, Jinxed, you're saying the client knows when you're making an important roll, and reacts by producing a bad one? God forbid SkiJunkie created a sentient program... |

I do not who is responsible.
I blame Nuffle so far for my poor dice.
My standard sentence is:
"For I am Jinxed. And Nuffle truly hates me."
Yours truly,
Jinxed.

Well personally I think I will never ever complain again about this mythical Fumbbl/Nuffle luck.
I went to the casino the other night and played a bit of roulette. Black came up 15 times in a row. (I will leave the stato's work out the probabilities!)
Suffice to say that after a brief discussion with the management they assured me the table was not rigged!!
Oh, and just in case any of you were wondering.....I was betting on red! |

Just for the record, I made the script to parse .log files into the d6 results and upload them to a database for display. Enjoy and see how you're doing.
I'll post a link to the source code I used (lest that become suspect as well as the industry standard PRNG that's used in friggin' CASINOS to determine the flow of THOUSANDS of DOLLARS and is judged good enough by them, although what do they know, it's only their MULTI-MILLION DOLLAR INDUSTRY.)
btw, mez... that avatar is killing me. Overcompensating for something? It's 'uuuuuuge. |

I heard a Rumor on what they are going to do for Randomness generated by a Computer.... they are going to take the 8th decimal place (and ninth and so on) from the Temperature on your CPU.
Meaning that since it's allways going to be changing.. you have your Random number |

yah well it's good, but for a D10
you'd have to change bases, while measuring the temperature to get a D6 |

Actually, a random number generator gives you a number >= 0 and < 1.
Then you multiply by the number of sides, add 1 and use the integer (rounded off).
0 X 6 + 1 = 1 (rounds down to 1)
.9_ X 6 +1 = 6.9_ (round down to 6)
<sarcasm> Of course, now we have to take a closer look at those multiplication functions. They are clearly unfair as the industry standard takes into account the position of your players and the turn and skews the results towards newbies. Obviously. Otherwise I'd have a better ranking. </sarcasm> |

Blaming the dice is the last refuge of mediocre players. EVERYONE has some bad games, but overall a good player can work around this and have a winning record against lesser players.
BTW, if you roll a die a million times, a million ones is just as likely as any other combination. Just play the averages as best you can by avoiding undue risk and imposing risk on your opponent. That is really all this game boils down to. Those that are good at this little turn by turn puzzle are the good overall players. |

I would only add this to this repeating argument. I have played over 500 games across the board with real dice in my real hands...and I have not yet heard a story of "bad luck" or "shoulda been this way" about something that happened on fumbbl that I have not seen in real life. Skeletons throw succesful bombs, saurus make interceptions, and elves drop balls. It just is the way it is. And that does indeed define the fun. Thats why the original philosphies of BB still apply...move all non-dice rolling players first...and assume you will fail a roll. After that it is all just laughing and looking for the next game |
