Write up for round 7 of the Premiership
The big game: Watford Hornhits 0 vs 3 Pro-Russia Dortmund
The Hornits were runners up last season and run away champs the season before, and this was their chance to get back in the title race this time around. Pro Russia had other ideas however and made the most of their nuffle given opportunities, pitch invasion and blitz – and some at times naive play from the Hornhits allowed the elves a very comfortable win. The baton has been passed in spectacular fashion.
Still in the hunt: CA Bloca Juniors 1 vs 0 --- Swampsea City ---
In a very defensive minded performance the Bloca Juniors rode their luck to take this one. Swampsea managed to keep most of their players on the pitch for once and made a good game of it. Their offence didnt make much ground and was relatively easily stopped by the speedy wolves for the 0-0 at half time, but on defence the frogs played much more effectively and their 2db on the deep, unprotected ball carrier deserved better. The necros flirted with disaster leading with a 1db frenzy blitz on the crucial turn, but could manage a high risk/reward play to get the ball down the other end of the pitch and to victory. Sadly other results mean Swampsea are now officially relegated.
Kicking boots: Scourgehampton 0 vs 2 Accrington Stanley Originals
A chance for both teams to get their seasons back on track. The Originals received and with the ref agreeing to take a relaxed attitude at the beginning of their starting drive, promptly set about sending the Chaos horde off the pitch. Scourgehampton had 5 players left by turn 3 and consequently never really got into the match, The second half saw more of the same as the Originals kept kicking the Chaos corpse every time it twitched. The Originals are still dreaming of glory, but Scourgehampton after a bright start are left looking nervously over their shoulder.
The upset: Beitar Jerusalem 1 vs 0 Ragenham 'N Dedbridge
Beitar took a very significant step away from the relegation dogfight with a surprise victory over in form Ragenham. The Undead used their wiz cleverly to create a chance early on, but Hen Azriel put in some ninja moves to escape with the ball and save the 0-0 at the half. After the break, Ragenham's deep ball carrier got in trouble (a theme this week...) and Hen Azriel again, the difference in this game, was able to hunt down the ball and a valuable three points for Beitar.
The six pointer: Barmbek Bloodletic 2 vs 1 Tranmare Rovers
Two teams at the wrong end of the table, and it really was a must win for Barmbek if they wanted to stay in the League for next season. Somehow they managed it. The replay is down, but Im putting their success down to the fact they didnt start taking significant casualties until midway through the second half. Both teams need more wins in their final games to get to safety.
With two games to go, there are only four teams left in the title race. Next week's clash between Pro-Russia and the Juniors should decide the title, but a tie may yet open the door to the chasing pack.
Pro-Russia Dortmund, 16 points, +7, form WWWWW Key fact – scored 15 td in their last 5 games
CA Bloca Juniors, 15 points, +5, form WDLWD Key fact – Defending champs must beat Pro-Russia in their next game
Accrington Stanley Originals, 14 points, +4, form WWLWD Key Fact – Only conceded 1td in their last 6 games
Ragenham 'N Dedbridge, 13 points, +3, form LWWWL Key Fact – 1460 tv means they can bring a wiz to every game |

Still time for a few bashers to win their leagues.
No chance for Bath City to get automatic promotion though. Best we can now do is 4th, worst 8th and relegation to League 1. |

Championship Round 8 is over, the race for the title between Bury'd and Peterboroug is on. Who will win?
No one has been relegated as yet, 3 out of the bottom 5 will go. But who won't be relegated (or promoted)? Yes that's right folks, Bath City Bladuds stay in the Championship for 1 more season! Woo! |

Congratulations to the MLS winners, Milan Gladiators. Looks like Charlie got something right:
[Charlie] And don't expect any mercy from the veterans either, Johan. So here's my predictions for the playoffs: Seattle Pounders (Lizardmen), Milan Gladiators (Human), D. Cong United (Simyin) and Chimpanzee United (Simyin). I figure Seattle will win the division and get #1 seed again, win their first playoff round and lose to the eventual winner - Milan Gladiators |

And Season 24 of OBBA is underway.
Our first match, played mere minutes after the season draw was published, saw the Teutonic machine of Rottern Bayern demolish the Barcelona vermin (Ratelona) 2-1 (and 6 cas to nil). https://fumbbl.com/p/match?id=3764583
Lovely! Just the way the season should begin, with big time matchups and lots of blood!
And we haven't even seen the monkeys take the pitch yet! Oook! Oook! |
