In that case remove java completely and try again. If that doesn't work remove java and try a different version. |

One last thought: are you using Windows or a Mac? If you're on a Mac, another common problem is using the OpenJDK Java, instead of the Oracle version. |

Im using windows.
Are there any other options apart from using old java versions? I don't like the security risks involved. |

There is some slight possibility it's a file association issue. Check that jnlp files are opened with javaws. |
