How do you make custom icons on the field icons for each player on your team.
As it is now, I like to play with the circles with the letters in it i.e. DE blizter is a circle with a B in it. O would like to make each player on my team have a different Icon such as the Bloitaer with frenzy could be a CIrcle with a Bf in it and a Lineelf with block and dodge could be a circle with Lbd in it.
Is this possible to make icon per player number as opposed to player position. Even if this was just for me and my team and the other team used standard icons.
Thanks in advance for any help or point in the right direction. |

You can edit the players section of the icon.ini with the player names to give each player a custom icon |

check out the section in the readme on player icons. basically, you add a section to the icons.ini [PLAYERS], and put "playername=icon.gif" in there. You'll probably have to do something else to make it so that the client uses letters for all the other teams, as the icons.ini is normally used for graphical icons. |

readme.txt wrote: | 61. Icons.ini [PLAYERS] Section
----------------------------------------------------------------
New for 8.6+ you can add a [PLAYERS] section to the icons.ini
file. This section is for assigning specific icons to
players based on their names. As each player is loaded from
the roster the program first checks the [PLAYERS] section of
icons.ini to see if there is a specific icons assigned to
this player. If yes, then the specified icon is used. |

Perhaps you just took the wrong part of the readme.txt |

By team it means a team race, such as human. For example, humans are marked like this:
Quote: |
[HUMAN]
THROWER=T
CATCHER=C
BLITZER=B
LINEMAN=L
|
You could change them to this:
Quote: |
[HUMAN]
THROWER=Tr
CATCHER=Ca
BLITZER=Bl
LINEMAN=Li
|
But it will look like that for all human teams. And ALL throwers will be marked "Tr". You cannot mark individual players with different letters. |

You could do it, but it would be a lot of work on your end. If you're not into putting all that much effort into it, then disregard the following.
If you're still reading, you could, in theory. . .
1. Make icons for each possible position that just look like the circles. Both colors, mind you.
2. Make an entirely new icons.ini which points to your generic, circle-like icons.
3. Turn on "Use Nick Kelsch's Icons" in the options of JBB.
(At this point, you have a complete replacement icon set, which looks exactly like having no icons at all. Not useful so far, but read on...)
4. Add your individual players under a new [PLAYERS] section in your icons.ini as listed in the readme file.
5. Make icons for individual players with whatever code you want.
(Now you finally have exactly what you're asking for, it was just a boatload of effort.)
6. When you skill up a player, you just have to manually go in and adjust that player's icon to add the new skill.
Not entirely practical, but technically possible. Sort of. |

Thank you to everyone that respondidi with their input and help.
And if anyone has anything else to say please do so.
Now if I could only find the .gif for those circles, it would make this process a little bit easier |

Those can be found in the "pics" folder with the names "back" and "back2." |

why not just use the icons instead of the lettered circles?
I've always wondered what drives a man to neutral. |

Seconded. It's a horrible imagination, just like playing tabletop with meeples as proxies. |

1st I could care less about the graphics, this game is about stategy. kinda like chess, you want graphics go play store bought PC games
2md my old monitor is so small that i cant tell the difference between the players and hovering over each icon to see what they have is not how the REAL (board) game is played, since most of you have never even seen the real gmae, you wouldnt understand.
Probably cause your too young to ahve been around when it came out
Its a lot easier to try out new, old and very odd tactics in this game due to the ease of setup and number of games that can be played in the evening. SO knowing where MY players are will hopefully devisew and get better for when i play my weekly leage games in my hometown. I make my models based on what skill they have, and IM not going to waste time making icons for each player. The cirle with letters is all i need
Im pretty sure 80% of the ppl who play this wouldnt stand a chance in the REAL game, where you cant look at the other players skills and have to use strategy, and really keep tract of the 4 minute turns
SO i only asked for help on a question, if you want to flame for it, then BITE ME |
