Last nights epic FUMBBL Cup match showed something that may be missing. Replays don't have spectator chat and crowd sounds. All that joyous silliness that made that game so much more are lost on the standard replays.
So here's the idea, record some matches live. Obviously not all, that would be insane, but key or likely to be fun matches. I could easily build another forum similar to the FUMBBL Image Library to house the links to them. That way people could watch back games like that and see why it was so special. The result was great, but the atmosphere from the crowd made it truly amazing. |

Crowd sounds would be great. I can see issues with spectator chat though. There are reasons why the coaches shouldn't be able to see what the specs are saying, and I don't think it's much different if you're going back to read either. |

Yeah, I can easily blank the chat out. Fairly easy to edit something like that when it's a static area of the screen. |

I can live without spectator chat, but a rowdy crowd makes the games so much more fun to watch in real time. It's like pro wrestling in how the match can be elevated by the excitement exhibited by the fans. |

The problem I think would be in timings. I don't think the client tracks in memory when a move happens, just the steps themselves. It might require a major rewrite to do that sorta thing. |

Haha, I didn't mean it to be part of fumbbl playback. I meant I could record likely interesting matches and make them available with all the spec' noises. |
