Custom rosters are coming at some point and I had a fun idea for a league that uses them, a draft league. We generate a random draft pool of players, then hold a snake draft to fill our teams. Depending on the actual functionality, either those rosters become our rosters, or we could generate a new, smaller draft pool after each season and hold a rookie draft.
Anyone interested? We could hold the draft soon and wait for custom rosters. Or even do a few "mock" drafts for fun while we wait and do the real draft when the league can actually play.
Anyone have ideas for the draft? My initial thought was:
12 round draft
Pool is half big guys/positionals and half linemen
Pool is randomly determined
Linemen are weighted equally, ie, the pool is equally likely to generate a lineman from any roster
Positionals weighted by prevalence across all rosters, then halved to a minimum of 1.
- For example, Wardancers are 0-2 on one roster, so have 1 "chance" in the pool. Beast of Nurgle is 0-1 on one roster so also has 1 "chance." Orc blizters are 0-4 on one roster so have 2 "chances." Wights are 0-2 on 2 rosters, so also have 2 "chances."
Base roster is Vampire to allow every team to have a Thrall in case they draft a Vampire
Every team would start with a ridiculous amount of gold to allow everyone to fill their rosters with some limit on inducements to prevent abuse

Thanks for the interest! The idea of totally custom players is cool and something to consider. For now might be easier to stick with known commodities. Would you be interested in mock drafting? |

Sure, i am interested in both. My assumption is that actually both versions will be available at the same time though. But to repeat: i am interested in both. |

i always wanted a team made up of who ever i wanted i know it sounds unbalancing but so what it sounds coooooool no idea how to run or make one up so ill be a coach if you guys get this off pm me thx |

I have a draft league in the making, i have been waiting for this league update and just a bit more
It will be all human teams for the first run. 16 teams and a playoffs. I will be running this as an admin - but not participating in as a coach.
I have been working on:
Draft board (based on NCAA graduates)
(players will start with skills based on their NFL Combine)
salary rules (salary management per season)
Free Agency
releasing players for cap space (waivers)
Undrafted free agency players
Trades
Multiple draft picks for consecutive seasons
Draft pick trades
Replacement coaches rules (cause coaches leave leagues)
It however wont start as a mixed races league
i expect to be looking for coaches near the end of the month for a mid/late January kick off.
The league page is unfinished conceptualized and the draft board is under constructions |
