I've got a question... Aequitas and I just played a game and halfway through the first half we lost connection.

After reconnecting the game everything on my side (I was hosting) seemed fine, but Aequitas showed a lower score and the turn was 2 less than it should be (after he sync'd his game to mine). When it turned turn 8 for him the match ended with two different result sheets.

In my game the match ended turn 1-1 2nd Half (score 3-0) . In Aequitas game the match ended turn 8-8 1st half (score 2-0). Confused

Has anyone else experienced this problem?

There seems to be a general problem with syncing games after connection problems. Are there any solutions to this problem?

There have been some problems with the turns getting out of sync with 5.8b but the only one I have gotten a log for turned out to be a problem with leap. Was anyone using leap in your game?

You can send me your results .zip file and I will take a look. You can find a link to my email on any of the sites below. Remember to put the above text into the email.

Hmmm, I thought my game with Luk was a one off, but it seems not being the case. Experianced the same things as FatherDagon mentioned above and also some niceties like a stunned Wardancer blitzing. Don't cruzify me, but I haven't kept the save file but I will ask Luk if he still has it.

edit
No, I still have it. What wonderful treasures you can find in your trash. I send it to Ski to have a look at it.

Also, did both players quit out of the Java client in these cases?

If not, the server (or client, whichever didn't quit) gets confused and thinks you're still continuing the game, from a different point. All sorts of strangeness pops up.

Unfortunately the log file in there starts at turn 6/8. I dunno why it doesn't have the rest of the game, but the turns are already out of wack where the log starts so I can't see what caused it. I think there is a good chance that with the number of players with leap in that game that the problem was caused by the leap bug in 5.8b. The next patch will fix the leap bug. The bug is a failed leap will sometimes cause a dodge roll to be made. If the dodge fails then two turnovers happen, thus adding 2 to the opponents turns.

I would be interested in seeing a log where a stunned player can move if anyone has one.

It happened to me too 2 days ago... after resuming turns were 4/6, and the game finished at 8/9 of the first half... (and my opponent saw all correctly though...).

Another thing I've noticed is that proxy games are far more 'unstable' that non proxy ones.

Yes proxy games seem to get out of sync easier. I think if the proxy is the one that loses the connection then it is much more likely that messages will get lost.

deiv:
So how did the resume happen? A quick auto reconnect or a load from a saved game? Was it thru the proxy?

The game didn't resume automatically... we tried to resume it loading the save with the same proxy 10 min later and we wasn't able to reconnect... Finally, I hosted a non proxy game and we finished the match... but I must admit I don't remember all the details now. Confused I'll send you the zip file, if you want. (at what address?).
