Good to see Black Axe still playing! Aren't enough Orc teams around that stand out from the crowd. |

Thanks to pac, who helped me with the links. I have a pick on at least one other qualifier (#3), but I'll post that later if someone else doesn't beat me to it.
Good luck to all the teams who are in the tournament! |

To help coordinate, I'll take (randomly selected) #6 and #15 in this post.
-------------
Qualifier 15
1st Round
Green (Orc) vs Wood (Wood):
Woodburns should win, but Green has enough MB to make them feel it.
Plorg's Pick: 2-0 Woodburns E.L.F. taking 1 MNG
Forest (Wood) vs Circus (Human):
Forest has only 11 players while Circus has lots of cash and Lenny the Stat Monster.
Plorg's Pick: 1-0 Circus Maximus
Other (Ogre) vs Jerusalem (Chaos):
Jerusalem has +Stats across the team.
They are low on players but they have cash to fix that.
Plorg's Pick: 2-0 Jerusalem taking 1 MNG
Jarls (Dwarf) vs Nandorins (High)
Tough match to call.
Either the Dwarfs win a hard-fought match or the High Elves win but get pummelled.
Plorg's Pick: 3-2(OT) Ice Jarls
2nd Round
Plorg's Pick: 2-1 Woodburns E.L.F beats Circus Maximus
Plorg's Pick: 3-2(OT) Ice Jarls beats Jerusalem
3rd Round
Plorg's Pick: 2-1 Woodburns E.L.F beats Ice Jarls
Qualifier 6

Qualifier #3 - Was drawn randomly in chat.
First of all, this qualifier is a treat for all fans. The ability of the coaches in this group is IMHO better then the average. In terms of the teams, none of them are truly heads above the rest. This should produce exciting games all qualifier long.
Rhazgul's Judgement Vs.
mmmbrains... brains!!
This is a tough match to call. Naama has a well documented history of performing well in majors. Unfortunately... he usually has a better team then he does now. 1 Tackler vs the Count is not a good sign. Neither is 12 non niggled players. Pulpo Fiction is no stranger to tourney success either and has a balanced Undead team. Not the most effective team in the tourney with only 2 DPs... but the Count matters.
I see this game as a toss up that depends on a few factors. First, if the Count ends up on the ground... look for Naama to win. If the handicap is a virus, Pulpo wins. Either way, expect some OT.
Synnful Selection: Rhazgul's Judgement 2-1 (OT)
Beer in the Beard Vs. Dead but Smelly
This match is a treat... if you like slow moving tactical matches. Just as in the last match, both of these coaches are on equal terms in sheer skill. While the dorfs may be walking in semi beat up, they also have the money for Zara. This should be a tough match for both teams. Aside from the Count, the Undead don't have a lot of good scoring options. Dorfs should take this in a slugfest.
Synnful Selection: Beer in the Beard 1-0
Helden der Nation Vs. Lords of Pain and Pleasure
This game is fairly straightforward. Two more skilled coaches, but with a huge difference in teams. The Darkies are simply too good to be stopped. Presuming there is no dice owning, this should be a straightforward win.
Synnful Selection: Lords of Pain and Pleasure 3-1
Danish Invaders Vs. H0rnsw0gglers
Well.... props to Aecrylis for bringing Norse to a major. Unfortunately, this will be a quick tourney for you. The Norse has too few guards, no really good star blitzers, and not a single DP. The Orcs have the best player on the pitch in a 6 4 4 9 monster. A clear pitch would not shock me.
Synnful Selection: H0rnsw0gglers 2-0
This post will be updated.

Qualifier #1 (Chosen randomly by counting the number of fingers I type with)
Reanimated Energy Vs. Dems Beef the Infinite Coming
An interesting match-up of Undead and Orcs. Both teams have lots of cash and the Count and Ripper have already made appearances. Strangely neither team has a single DP on their roster. While the Undead team looks solidly built, the differences in team records is enough to push my pick into the Orcs direction.
My Pick: Dems Beef the Infinite Coming (1-0)
Primetime Orcs Vs. Legionas
This is in my opinion one of the very best first round match-ups, and not only because it features the classic Orc-Human rivalry we've all played on tabletop. Both teams come into the tournament with strong teams which both could have done well had they not drawn each other. The blitzers in this game are absolutely disgusting, with the Orcs being led by a Str 5 freak of nature and the humans having a +Str/+Ag/+Mv monster.
In a game that's tough to call I have to give the edge to the Orcs based on cash, Orcs have it and the Humans don't.
My Pick: Primetime Orcs (2-1 OT)
Maharak_Dead_Boys Vs. Mortarz
This game is a mirror match of two almost evenly-matched Undead teams. I expect both teams to buy the Count, so that won't have any effect on the game. Close inspection reveals that while both teams have nice Ghouls and Wights, the Mortarz have far superior Mummies which should make a big difference in the game. Although team records don't always tell the whole story, the Mortarz have enough of an advantage in team records that they get my nod in this cemetery brawl.
My Pick: Mortarz (2-0)
Blackmarsh Jesters Vs. Northwest Normalists
Both teams have about even TR with the Dark Elves having a slight lead in TR due in part to having a Wizard ready. The Dark Elves bost an impressive record and a fairly well-balanced team with a couple +Str Blitzers. The Humans respond with a quite a few +Stats but with a missing Ogre and not enough cash to buy anything. The Dark Elves look better on paper, but I have a feeling the Humans will come out with an anything but 'Normal' performance. I take the Humans in a dramatic upset.
My Pick: Northwest Normalists (3-2 OT) |

Qualifier 6
1st Round
Bingert (Dark) vs Os Filhos (Human)
At first glance, the TS says I should pick the Dark Elves.
However, seeing the win records and Star money in the Human bank...
Plorg's Pick: 3-1 Os Filhos da Quilombo
Miners (Dwarf) vs Brides (Chaos)
Chaos has just enough Claw and +ST to do some damage.
The Dwarves will take some hits but they should win this easily.
Plorg's Pick: 2-0 Earthminers taking 1 MNG
Henchmen (Dark) vs Cats (Dark)
Both teams are well developed with lots of +Stats and comparable win records.
Agile cats is the safe pick since they are known to do pretty well in Majors.
They also have more skills per player, five +ST, and about 50 more TR/TS.
Plorg's Pick: 2-1 Agile cats for a change
2nd Round
Plorg's Pick: 2-1(OT) Earthminers beats Os Filhos da Quilombo
Plorg's Pick: 3-2(OT) Agile cats for a change beats Motley Horde
3rd Round
Plorg's Pick: 2-1 Agile cats for a change beats Earthminers |
