Hi,
I'd like to play with this - how do you get started? Sorry for the ridiculous noob question. I've registered with fumbbl, but never managed to play a game - I was assuming the user guide was for the old client?

Cheers,
Mike

Hi,

at first you need a team in the division. So go on "Overview" and make a new team Wink
After that, look in the "Gamefinder", if there is someone offering his teams. Here you must check, if the division is the correct one. You need "Fantasy Football". If there is at least one game offered, you can speak to the coach via irc.
After that, he'll explain you, what to do. But there are only 2-3 steps to do.

Greets and good luck,
gan

Hi there,

There is a wealth of useful info here:

http://fumbbl.com/help:

If you want to play LRB4 rules you'll need to find Skijunkies client and patch (By google search). If you want the more up to date rules then play fantasy football on the new client which doesn't need anything downloaded.

Great - thanks both. It's fantasy football I'm interested in.

FFB is very simple to get going.

1/ create a team within the FFB division
2/ find an opponent.
3/ agree on game name for your match with your opponent
4/ click on the 'betatest' link next to your ffb team on your coach overview page.
5/ this should automatically launch the client (there is no stand alone download needed)
6/ click past the credits screen
7/ enter your user name, password and the game name you agreed on
8/ start new game!
9/ when both you and your opponent have connected you will be asked to confirm that it is the match you agreed on (i.e. both teams are correct), click 'OK'
10/ enjoy!

edit:- BTW your current team is in the Academy division, unfortuantly FFB is not implemented in this division yet, you have to create one in the [F] division, whilst it is still in its beta test stage.

And do use irc. Getting games otherwise can be a painful, not to mention offputting, experience.

Also keep in mind that FFB is not fully finished yet, Kalimar is working hard on this though Smile It lacks some skills and some bugs need to be fixed.

And if you haven't read the rules lately, it is a good time to start now.

We really need this kind of info on the front page for newly arriving coaches. So easy to have people show up, get confused, and leave. This would make it very easy for new players.

Hey, wait a minute... Do we not need to download anything at all for Fantasy league football?!

I've been having so much grief trying to get Ski-Junkie's program to load (I think my new firewall
hates it or something). If we don't need to download anything and LRB 6 just runs off of the Fumbbl
page I will dance, dance I tell you!

Start dancing! Laughing

The FFB client is separate to fumbbl, and loads from another site. Fumbbl just logs the games. You start the game, it loads the java app, you play.

Yes, it IS that easy.

Again, this is why we need this kind of info on the front page. How many people have we lost who tried to hunt down the old client, install it, patch it? Even when it was easy to find it was still a pain with java versions and such.
