Glad I did not retire them.

Played a game vs some very badly damaged humans who could field just 9 players (like me) and actually even won the game.

Now a new Chaos Warrior joined the ranks and I am up to ten players.

One more game without serious mishaps and 50k earnings... (10k in the bank)

*pray to Nuffle and Nurgle at the same time.*

Like U have a theme and stick with it, respect for that.(the Tentacle factor).
However I believe claws would have been better in a Spp way - Tentacles can however be a good tactical choise.
He can block quite some passage with those tentacles.
However I wouldn´t have retired that beast, a N is not the end of the world.
It would have been better to keep him ´round, until U have a good core of players, then retire him.
About the Apoth - Can be good, can be a loss of money.
I´d done what U did, since i´m not much of a chance player.

Maybe it is just me but with claw you can 'only' hurt the opponent.

With tentacles I can blitz the cage and stand next to the ball-carrier. Tentacles will more often than not pin the poor fellow.

Of course he can still hand-off the ball or whatnot but I limit his options. In a more Nurgly way that the bog-standard claw.

Sounds like more fun to me. For both me AND the opponent.

Tentacles is as good as claws... Build up your team in a way you love (so you will not be tempted again by that scary "should-I-retire-them" feeling... Wink )

Save money, then buy Chaos Warriors asap. When you have four (with block), you will kick ass among equal TR teams. Smile
More than this, they have AV9, which makes them less exposed to that bad thing called "death". Razz

Anyway, topper: APOs are NEVER a loss of money. They are just essential for ANY team in the world (well, maybe not Khemri... Smile )

As a Khemri coach I'd buy one if I could...

And yes; tentacles rule on a ST5 big guy!

Update;

Played a 3rd game and won. 2-0.

But another beast niggled (actually he niggled two but one was apothed!)

With the very miserable earnings I had I cannot even buy a beastman!

On the positive side; my Minotaur got mvp and is one spp away from his second skill. (I have block in mind, odd isn't it?) and a beastman actually earned his first skill.

He is promoted to team captain. He knows how to block. Wink

With 50k in the bank and hopefully no losses the next match I can buy at least another beastman. With just the tiniest bit of luck and cherry picking my opponent (ff must be 9 or higher) I have +3 for winnings. Let's not count on a win shall we? Still 50% chance for 70k or more. Thus 2 beasts.

Let's sacrifice something...

don t retire the beastman... can be useful to stand in front of big guy... don t care about death or another niggling... you will retire him when you have more player...

I retire nigglers almost always immediately.

The way I roll they inevitably soak up mvp's. Very Happy

No; best to retire them asap. I could live with a beast missing an ag or move but no niggler, ST drop or av-drop...

Av-drop isn't so bad. My amazon team's best player for a long time was a av-6 blitzer w/guard, tackle, and 4 str. Unfortunately, she died blitzing an ogre, who squashed her so flat not even the apo could put her back together. The team itself became retired right after, as she was the last quality player on the team...

Ok, so I overreacted, and looking back I wish I could un-retire the team and fight on, but what's done is done.

Let me rephrase that;

Unless there is a very good reason NOT to I will retire a niggler or stat-loss immediately.

If the player has some exceptional qualities I might reconsider but we were talking a skill-less beast.

Then you'd have to be ruthless and get rid of him asap. The way things work he'd otherwise get all mvp's for the next 3 games to come. Very Happy

Not to mention, you drop him now your TR goes down, meaning better winnings to replace him faster.

My Gnomes are packed with stat decrease players. IMO a niggle is worse, because a S1 Gnome can be fed to a BG. He can't if he's not on the pitch.

And if you thought you had to retire your team after one game, take a look at my Lizzies...

They're retired now.

6 Players could take to the field for my second game. I took 2 NIGs, 1 RIP and 2 MNG I think. Oh, and an AV decrease.

Ouch is an understatement.

Stunty leeg is different anyway.

In ranked or faction games my bet is that the large majority of new teams are retired if they have a kill and serious injury the first match or worse.

Why make life hard on yourself? Start all over. It's the way things are.
