Flashing news: 0,05% event happened again
With respect to my previous blog:

This happy fellow got also awarded three times in a row now with a MPV of a 13 and 12 player roster.
And this time it's real 0,05%!

1 of every 2000 player can be that lucky and it happend now twice within a day. Is this a sign that Christ is about to come the second time?

I thought you were gonna do Zara not breaking AV7 in 6 stab attempts :(

He'll probably trip and die going for a routine GFI now, just to make up the difference. Nuffle giveth, Nuffle taketh away.

I've had a https://fumbbl.com/p/player?player_id=10703438 Chaos Warrior
in a completely new team who failed his very first action, a go for it, and instantly died.
His replacement died then too in his second game.

this player of mine got 3 MVPs in 2 games: https://fumbbl.com/p/player?player_id=9686588

I love the idea that the second coming is being foreshadowed by MVP distribution on a Blood Bowl team. That is a sense of humour a divine power really needs to have.

Because I'm chuckling away to myself, 6!

Can round it down to a 0.6% chance if you want, but wrong again :D
Posted by Dominik on 2015-08-06 13:53:27
0,6% chance? How so?
Posted by JimmyFantastic on 2015-08-06 13:59:34
Because it's the chance of it happening to any player, not Holger Hustensaft.
Posted by JimmyFantastic on 2015-08-06 14:04:26
You are counting the first game as a 1/12 chance... but someone gets the MVP every game so that is a 1/1 chance.
Posted by Kam on 2015-08-06 14:52:08
Jimmy is right. The probability of rolling a double is 1/6, not 1/36. It's the same here. Someone gets a MVP, then you have 1/<number of players> chance to have him get another one on the next game. If you have 12 players, then the odds someone gets a MVP twice in a row are 1/12 = 8.33%.
Posted by Harad on 2015-08-06 15:00:26
Yes and also one has to be careful of applying the statistics after the event. The real question is what were the odds the MVPs are displayed in an interesting pattern e.g. numbers 1,2,3 or something else. I may not explain this very well but there's a difference between the odds for something that is required and the odds on something that you notice after the event because there are a multitude of other events that could have also been note worthy.
Posted by Mr_Foulscumm on 2015-08-06 17:04:52
Statistics isn't a narrative. It is unlikely to have the same player get multiple MVPs in a row, but it happened, so it's no longer unlikely that it happened. :P
