On Words Starting With 'Prodig-'
It's been a few months now since I quietly faded into the background, parting without the dramatic farewell posts favoured by so many. I knew I'd be back eventually - one does not simply walk out of FUMBBL - and I guess eventually is now.

For those of you who don't know me, a quick introduction. I am what you might call a FUMBBL fossil. With a coach number as low as 220, I joined the fun just after the automisation of reporting matches and rolling skills - although back then we still had to manually upload them. Since then I have done just about everything there is to be done on FUMBBL, except win a major tournament. Overly active player, approval monkey, security officer, runner of tournaments, haunter of the chat, editor of the local newsrag; I have been there, I have done that. If you really want to know more, check out my profile - I have been told it's worth a gander.

Eventually, the entire thing got boring. I found myself logging on to do what amounted to a full-time job with all the hassle and none of the reward - and I wasn't even playing BloodBowl anymore. I resigned from all my functions and faded into the masses, and for some time I had fun again. Then I made the same mistake again and did a lot of enthusiastic volunteer work for player-run groups. Without meaning to, I suddenly found myself no longer logging in to FUMBBL.

We are now four months later. Call me the Prodigal Son, a prodigious player or, best yet, a BloodBowl prodigy. Call me a whiner and a windbag. Call me an addict. Call me Mezir.

So, I'm back, and lots has changed while everything is still the same. This blog, for a start. Now we can have all the drama of LiveJournal condensed into our little BloodBowl-specific paradigm, and I shouldn't really talk because I'm making use of it.

Mostly everything is the same, though. Forum drama, whining about the admins, whining about cherry-picking and elf-bowling, whining about whining. Since my return I have seen the rise of a new tourney and its subsequent swift and drastical demise. Dice are still dice, and in the few matches I have played this weekend I have seen both sides of the medallion. I have been subject to propitious luck and calamitous misfortune at the hand of Nuffle. Dramatic plays have been made and broken. I have laughed, I have whined, I have bragged and been humiliated. Fun has generally been had and I am hopeful that this will continue to be so.

Many faces of FUMBBL past are still around and it is good to see them, even though there are so many fossils permanently lost to the attritions of time. Hopefully I will not be one of them for a while yet.

If you read this far - wow, you must either be really interested in what I have to say or tremendously bored! I'll continue to use this blog from time to time as a personal speakerbox, but I am planning for this particular entry to be the least interesting, as I will aim at entertainment. You don't want to hear about me or my life, nor about how my teams are faring. You might possibly be interested in having a chuckle at my expense or the strange workings of my imagination, though. Until then - good game, catch you later!
