Humans - I tried and failed
I've always played humans in fantasy games, no matter the game, be it Warhammer, D&D, Bloodbowl etc. And before I re-discovered the joys of bloodbowl through this wonderful site, the last time I put ball on pitch was in edition 2, Games Workshop's first attempt at making Bloodbowl its own game rather than the direct port from Warhammer Fantasy Battle that was edition 1 (Throwing Accuracy = Ballistic skill anyone~? or was that bow skill?). Back then Humans had blockers, st4, loads of armour, but very slow, Mighty Zug actually was st6 back then too, though I don't think he was for hire. Back then I could compete with my mates in the few occasions we managed to get a game in.

After coming back to the game and its new rules I'm finding it very hard to compete with the current roster, we get out-bashed by the bashers and out-dodged by the agilty teams. I think the idea of humans is that they are jack-of-all trades, master of none, but unfortunately for me at least I'm not good enough a coach to compensate for their flaws.

I have nothing but respect for coaches like JanMattys, Hank and PainState (good luck in the LC), who not only play humans, but play them well.

I mostly play in league which is a great place to learn the game, unlike ranked which only teaches you to be selective with your opposition. Playing against and speccing coaches like PeteW, Spubbbba, SeraphimRed, Gritter, MetaGoo etc has only increased my knowledge of how the game is played. Its a shame that I can only put this in to practice every now and again and still n00b it up most of the time. It seems increasingly that I am on the wrong end of the dice and every mistake I make is compounded with Humies. It has been put in perspective recently by another league I'm in that had slightly different entry requirements and I went with a Chaos team, during the first season, my lack of knowledge playing this sort of team and its general lack of skills at low TR meant I lost most of my games (though I still had a positive cas difference at the end of the season), this season however I am unbeaten as my team turns in to one of those cheesy Chaos teams we all love to hate and I'm on the other side of the nufflings, whilst still making stupid errors due to lack of concentration and sometimes not prioritising my moves correctly, it seems that my errors are not as costly as when I'm playing my Humies.

Oh well, I'll keep my teams going as much as possible, though after suffering a cas of 1-3-3 on my WIL team (just before playing the divisions bashiest team) one of them may be on its way.

And as for ranked, I'm sure that there's not enough Chaos or orc teams around ;) though I think I'll stop short of Dorfs, they are so boooooooooooooring and one dimensional, though I suppose you can never have too much guard.
