It is with sadness that the Yorkshire Puddings wish to announce the passing of their first super-star,
Abbas Abbracciabeni. Abbas died (tragically before the marvellous half-time meal) making an enthusiastic if ill-guided run with the ball from midfield in the team's most recent match against Suicidal Sun-Worshippers. Sports historians will doubtless be interested to know that the half-time meal Abbas missed was roast pork in apple sauce.
To many, Abbas was a limping, injury-prone sack of bloat, but to the Yorkshire Puddings he was the closest the team has ever come to producing a legend. Things went wrong for Abbas almost at the beginning of his career when he chose to sign for the unknown side Yorkshire Puddings on the grounds of low expectations and large portions. Several commentators have observed that, with better coaching, Abbas could have gone on to be only the 20th 'fling legend in the Ranked Division. Undoubtedly, the achievement he will most be remembered for by followers of the Puddings will be his scoring of five TDs in back-to-back matches against Ravenport Falcons and Huracaines de Tampico.
Despite playing with a largely (some might say entirely) unnotable team, Abbas finished his career as the 20th greatest halfling star of all-time in Ranked and 19th top halfling scorer with 45 TDs.
Details and menus for the fourteen-course wake will be announced in due course. We'll miss the little pixel, it was quite a ride.
