MM:DoC excellent CCG
I've been playing a fair bit of this Might and Magic themed CCG for a while now, and I have to say it is truly excellent. If you are interested in these kinds of games give it a look see. I've provided a link below, which of course benefits me to a degree.

However, the real benefit from joining from another players link is that you start automatically with all 6 starter decks. There is no reason not to join as a friend, and if you join and never play, I don't get anything from it anyway :)

Oh, and as a suggestion, I would recommend against selecting Haven or Sanctuary as your 7th starter.

Thanks for the suggestion, I've registered with your referral link but I'll have to wait with the downloading until I'm off the work computer :)

I hope you enjoy it mate. Any questions feel free to ask. I'm no expert, but I'm pretty good with the basics of starting out at least :)

Aww was hoping it would work on my android

thanks for the link, i'll have to check it out. I miss CCGs.

Yes, they are 'working' on an android port, but no news on how hard they are working on it :)

In deck builder what does the 16/16 on my Black Vulture mean?
Posted by licker on 2014-07-19 23:35:46
I believe it is the number of Vultures you have.

If you put one in your deck it should change to 15/16

My kid plays Cardfight Vanguard.

Does it make any sense to buy more than 1 'base set 2' pack?
Posted by licker on 2014-07-19 23:53:28
Yes, you can get all the starters easy, augment with BS2 packs.

There are some guides on the main forums, but I'll give a quick bit of advice.

When you start with the link I gave you will have all 6 starter packs, as well as one more starter from a faction you choose. As I said, don't take Haven or Sanctuary, the other 4 all give better cards on average, and are better starting factions to build from.

If you complete the tutorial bits you will gain a bit of gold and exp and maybe some more cards. The important bit for now is the gold. You want to buy up BS2 packs just to boost your collection a bit, and see what rare/epic cards you are lucky to get, that could drive which faction you want to start building a 'real' deck with.

However, the 'best' thing to do is to actually just beat on the campaign missions with each faction. The first campaign should be pretty easy to do, and as you get 30k gold for beating each stage with each faction, you can amass quite a bit of gold (150k I believe). Once you've done this check for an achievement which gives you 50k for buying a starter pack, so, spend 50k on the starter which has the best uncommons in it (necro is good I think) and you essentially get that starter for 'free'. Then take the rest of your 150k and buy up 10 BS2 packs.

Now you should have a really decent selection of cards to put into a better deck to just play with. You can still do more of the campaigns for more gold and such.

I would not spend any Wild Cards until you really are sure what you want to do. Hoard them up until you have 50 or more then start looking at different decks builds and what you are missing. Rares/epics cost a lot of WCs, so don't go for a deck which needs a lot that you are missing.

As far as tournaments are concerned... Do not bother with any of them. You don't stand much of a chance until your deck improves. Especially true for Swiss. Jackpot this is less true of, but unless you can get a streak of winning 3 or 4 in a row jackpot will just cost you gold overall.

Also, accept my friend requests :) the chat in MMDOC isn't very good, but you can probably find me on IRC in fumbbl and hit me there, if there's enough interest we can make an #MMDOC channel too.

I may have misread your first comment and took it to mean the opposite of what you actually said, licker. I went ahead and took the Sanctuary starter pack. Ah well. Tutorial is actually praiseworthy, best tutorial I've seen in a while. I haven't gotten around to doing anything else but the first campaign mission, but I am enjoying it so far.

Sanc stater isn't terrible, neither is Haven. Mostly it's about what spells and fortunes are in them that can be used in other decks.

To me the quickest builds are either necro or inferno, but inferno doesn't share much with any other starter heros. Necro at least, shares with several.

The annoying bit is when you don't have the right hero, but heros are EXPENSIVE to buy with WCs, so it's just about lucking into the right one(s) with your packs.

For what it's worth, the meta before GB expansion had both Kat (Stronghold) and Hakeem (academy) as being very strong. Still a bit early to see how much anything has changed, not a ton of the new cards around just yet. Still, I wouldn't worry about the new cards.

If you get to where you are feeling happy with your BS2 cards you can buy a few HoN packs as well, they also cost 15k. GB packs should come online for gold in another week or two, but they will cost 25k or more, if past history is any indication of anything :)

And I should add, stick to only playing Standard, don't do open or weekly unless you really want to. The Open environment in particular is quite a bit different, and without the BS1 cards BS2 decks are at a disadvantage.

Weekly is a mixed bag, this one is no uniques, which helps newer players, but I still wouldn't really recommend either of them until you have a firm grasp on standard.

I should also mention that if you play through steam there are 5 puzzles you can buy which give you decks. The first 3 will cost you around
50 cents.

The forth may be worth it depending on what rares you get, but is around $2.40 now.

The 5th is over $20 and while it packs some great cards, it's probably not worth that cost.

Perhaps make this a forum thread too?

I did, it's in off-topic :)
